My point?

VR knows an infinate amount more of turbos than Lindsey does, that is my point. I dont claim to be a 944T expert or a turbo engineer. Ive had very lengthly discussions with both vendors, and even though I think Lindsey is awesome, when it comes to turbo knowledge, expertise, etc. John is the man.

That's my .02 cent.

If the stage 5 were smaller, of course it will be more responsive. The LR Super75 is a T3/T67 hybrid. Thats a 67mm T04 compressor wheel! That's pretty big and capable of ~650rwhp with the right hotside.

Motec M400
LR or SFR Intake Manifold
SFR Stage 2 headers
Gt35r .82

Your car deserves the best.

Wow, this is all great stuff. I do know that my intake is probably a step up from Lindsey's but I'm not sure if it's on par or better than SFR. The turbo is my main question. I believe that Jon Vitesse is the man to talk to about turbos. I didn't know of the other's out there that make them. Thing is I have to have reliability to match my custom KKK I have right now. That's the hard part. I don't want to ruin the reliability of my car by upgrading.

David is retiring and will probably close shop.

You can make more power and increase reliability if you make the right choice.

If you know your current turbo specs feel free to PM me and I'll offer up what I know from the Garrett line-up.

Round intake? The compressor housings all feature round inlets. Some of the OEM turbos that were made by Garrett for Nissan's SR20DET and RB26DETT engines were T25 / GT28R's with a bolt-on inlet.

If you are refering to the exhaust side turbine inlet then no. Garrett only uses a typical square inlet. However you can buy replica KKK exhaust housings for usage with Garrett turbines. Be careful as the turbine housing has to be matched to the turbine.

Joe,
the turbo you have is indeed a great turbo,
I had the same one on my previous car, only it was # 10 housing.
The compressor flows 750 Cfm and 800 CFM at higher boost levels, which is good for the power you're putting out now.
If you want/need more, then yes, that turbo will be too small, as insane as that sounds.
When shopping for a turbo, your compressor should flow 1000+ CFM (can you ask David if his turbo guy can accomondate you?) and you have to go with a bigger hotside; which will have a bigger exducer opening, which then, you need a bigger down pipe, and then the rest of the exhaust, etc.
Then bigger injectors, then engine management to accomondate the injectors.............and so on, and so on.
Then there is a problem with too much pressure drop through the IC and throttle body, which are waay more important than the intake manifold.
You kinda have to do it all, as it all works together. Don't have to go into your engine; but you need to control detonation somehow.

There's your 600 hp, and lord have mercy on us all.

oh, and get a bigger air filter (twice the size than what you've got)

GT3582R w/ 0.81 A/R hotside is all you need to make 600whp all day.

If you want I can call it my Stage 7 turbo if it makes you feel better.

Sounds good but I'm nervous about the reliability of the Garrett. Heard tons of horror stories. None from VR Turbos. Input?...

The horror stories are mostly cheaply rebuilt T04E's. A new Garrett GTBB is a totally different story!

I run a Garrett GT series turbo in my car as well. I think the problem is that they are not bolt-on and require custom plumbing to fit. Also, it requires R&D to build a kit based on them. Chris Cevelli was using them almost 4-5 yrs back with great success. Some of you might not know him, but he was considered the "Guru" on 944 turbo's until he changed his focus on 993's.
The market wasn't there for $10k kit for a 944 turbo. I would vouch for a Garrett GT series turbo. They are unbelievable. As far as horror stories, they have all had those, even the popular ones. You might want to contact Chris to see if he would be interested in working with you. He has changed fields but is still very passionate about our cars and knows them better than most.
Regards.

Joe, check your horror story sources. Garrett dual BB turbos are ultra-reliable. Tens of thousands of hours of R&D time, more than anything on the market.
