Eagle Talon LE DOHC 16V Turbo
Here in Germany you see some weird cars no doubt. However, I saw a Eagle Talon LE DOHC 16V Turbo. I tried to do a search, but Google and the like are either in French or German. I was on a American Post, so it was probably from the States. I have never really been a Eagle Talon fan, but it was an intresting looking car.
Does anybody know about the Eagle Talon DOHC 16V Turbo?
What size motor and Turbo?
Top Speed?

Eagle Talons and Mitsubishi Eclipses are essentially the same car, known as DSM (Diamond-Star Motors). This was a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi in the early 90's. The cars were made in Normal IL.
Probably the cheapest Jap import to make fast (considering initial investment). The engine is the 4G63, and has remained fundamentally the same from 1990 to the Evo 8 (not sure about 9). Iron block Aluminum head, very strong 2.0L. The 1gen versions (90-94, 2nd gen is 95-99 or 97 for the Talon) have a slightly larger turbocharger - MHI 14b (similar in size to a k24). The second gens had a little smaller turbo Garrett T25, but bumped compression to make up.
Some of the turbos came in AWD, others are FWD.
The AWD will get 130-135mph, the FWD should get a little higher (a lot less drivetrain loss, and lighter).

I had a Mitsu 93 GSX, loaded with leather & sunroof. 195hp & AWD.
Great car but my stock 89 951 was quite a bit quicker.
You can get to 300hp fairly easily, look for the AWD if you want to put the power down.
Great car for going fast in the rain.

Hallo,
guck mal bei "mobile" oder "autoscout24" unter Mitsubishi Eclipse. In Deutschland gabs leider nur den Fronttriebler. Ist der gleiche Motor wie im EVO allerdings ohne Kolbenkühlung.

Funny, I always hear folks talking these cars up..... I have a good friend that bought one, and loved it. He talked about how hard it ran. I drove the car and was really unimpressed. At the time I was running a dodge shelby charger turbo. Shelby only put out 140 stock, mine was closer to 160 I suspect. Either way That shelby would kick the snot outta that eclipse anyday, anyway, and twice on the weekend.

The exitement starts once you mod it. A lot of bolt on parts available, Head flaow well, Power potential that makes some 944 owners jallos and on top of that: dead cheap! God drag car in AWD form, as FWD it seems it is no match to the lighter Hondas.

There's no denying it. The 4G63 is a proven platform.
2 Bridges, there was an awesome shelby turbo at the drag strip about a month ago. He was running 12.2's all night long. Total little sleeper car, def. the original SRT

one of my friends had the awd version, he dumped 2k into the car (coilovers, bigger turbo, IC, radiator and cams) and ran mid 11's
stock they are slow but with just an mbc and an afc you can get into the 13's

I'd say it was about as fast as my 951 chipped, but other wise stock. It would be no contest now.
As far as the Mopars (Dayona/Laser Charger/Omni), watch out for the 2.2 turbo cars. Ever see the 10 second Dodge Caravan turbo? Hee hee. Our 1984 Daytona Turbo Z has the famed Super 60 kit that makes 290HP. Total sleeper.
$.02 for ya.

- I will have to take your word for potential of those cars
My little shelby was pretty ratty, but I kicked *** on another buddy's 71 charger with 383 motor.... He was so pissed off I didn't think he was ever going to talk to me agian.
Had a ton of fun with that car. SCCAd the crap out of it. I was a tranny killer though... when I sold it it came with three spare trannies.. LOL
2.2 turbos were great... and ultra cheap... I used to be able to score complete motors (turbo and all) for $75 at local u pull your own part yards.
was great... get too carried away with boooost and melt one, just swap in another and try again. These days I rarely see them in the salvage yards

The trick was to run a 373 gear set from the Caravan rather than the 355 turbo grind. Woke it up pretty good, but would turn 3800 in 5th at 70mph and had a 125mph top speed.
