wow, raced a 911 turbo today
i decided to go drive around with the dme box loose on floor so i can wiggle if i stall , and i happened to stumble upon a like 2003 or 4 911 turbo while i was out trouble shooting my stalling issue. we raced down the highway for like 4 exits(of coarse i passed my exit just to race around), we got off at same exit, and the guy was freaking amazed at how fast the 944 t is. he said he was wondering why he spent so much on his car...hahahahahaha i love it,,we hit like 150mph. accelerated and slowed down a few times with traffic and i swear to god that i hung right with him when accel after passing traffic.........he took me on a wide open stretch after 140ish, but up to that point the diff between the two cars was not worth 80 grand.......
sometimes after a racing, hard drive i just cant wipe the smirk off my face, especially when i just hung with a newer 911 turbo. god damn i love these cars!!!!!!!!!

k, a stock 993tt will crush you. (and me)
I'm sorry, don't want to rain on your parade, I love our cars to death, BUT a 993tt in a WHOLE DIFFERENT BALL GAME. not even close. The owner was sandbagging it, or his car wasn't boosting. lol

I love my car, and it's fairly quick. However, my CEO has a 996tt with the turbo upgrades, etc. I drove it. ENTIRELY diff world. It was insanely quick. Seemed about twice as quick as my car.
Funny thing was, his AMG 65 wtf...(the two door hardtop) was even quicker. He has it all aftermarket tuned. That thing puts out approx 700 HP. It felt like a land jet.

I have a stock 996tt and a lightly moded 951 with a 3" SFR exhaust and tial wastgate. On the feeway there is no comparison. I am impressed Mike was able stay with him after 100 even if he was sand bagging. My 951 takes forever to get to 140. What chips are you running?

Where I am at those kind of speeds are not considered racing. I pulled a stunt like that with a Caymen S, but we were not racing just driving. I actually set the cruse control at 145 MPH. That is on Autobahn A6.
The Autobahn is a trip. Still those speeds are dangrous, but the Autobahn is designed to see Far Far ahead givinig the driver plenty of time to see brake lights and re act accordingly! Long, Straight, smooth Concrete road, no passing in the right lane only in the Far left lane, and all trucks are in the Right lane.
100-125 MPH are normal speeds for "Void all previous restrictions " parts of the Autobahn! Even when the Autobahn goes through town the speed limts is about 82 MPH 130KPH.
The big thing is fuel cost, and a Turbo will drink some fuel at those speeds.
1 Liter of German fuel cost about 1.41 Euro (93 oct)
3.8 Liters= 1 Gallon
So 1 gallon cost 5.36 Euro
Which equals $7 a gallon for (93 oct)
According to my landlord, a native german, the Govt taxes the gas that is why it cost so much.
As a American I get it for $0.868 a liter or about $3.30 a gallon
As well as if you get in a high speed accident your insurance can refuse to cover your policy! Right!
Normally, I stay between 130 KPH and 200 KPH. 130 KPH is a good speed and the car gets good gas miliage. However, when you get the left lane and there are already 911's, 930's, caymens. ect... it is a taunt to not put your foot in it to join the parade.

How is your speed on the autobahn relevant to this? The autobahn has "mostly" real drivers on a surface and environment designed for high speed. Moreover it is an environment where high speeds are the expectation and the norm, as opposed to American highways.
On our highways, I have no issue until about 105 to 110, because on the highways I travel, 90 is really common in the left lane. 150 is fugging stupid.
...and this guys post is b.s. He didn't stay with a 996TT with only the mods posted.

sorry bro. I came off a bit more harsh than I meant. ( It's the Marine in me ) I so wish that I could take my car to the autobahn.
One of the reasons I haven't been around the list much is because the list is growing younger and dumber, and worse the resulting behavior gets pats on the back rather than the smack downs some of these folks deserve. Ofcourse this guy "might" have been going 150, but he's flat lieing his *** off about the 996tt, unless the other guy was barely trying.
Drink a good beer for me over there.
