i wouldnt use imron or any of those old school paints- go w/ a nice eurethane single stage paint or if you like, two stage base coat clear finish- i like clear my self.

jkjk- i see you are talking about on the inside- that makes more sense.

Hey Kevin - not a whole lot to report. I have been traveling a lot for work this summer and just haven't had as much time as I would like to work on it. The interior is completely prepped - had to take a good portion of the front half of the cage down to bare metal. I have about 95% of the exterior masked off and about 90% of the interior masked off. I have a couple of weeks before I have to go out of town again so I am hoping to get the paint laid down before I have to go out of town again and before the weather turns crappy.

I have almost all of the parts - just a few misc spherical bearing for the rear suspesnion and a set of CCW wheels are all that I am missing. I also have one last event - Mid-Ohio at the end of this month, and then I can strip the suspension goodies off of the red car.

Dan - thanks for the input. I have a good local paint shop, explained what I was doing, and let him set me up, since I don't know what the heck I am doing when it come to painting.

Sounds good Skip. What are you doing in regards to the motor. Are you building a monster for this car?

I have a low mileage rebuilt motor to put in to start out with that just has some bolt ons - turbo, SFR 3" downpipe/full exhaust, LR fuel rail, LR hard pipes, and 55 lb injectors. I also have a TEC3 standalone I'm putting in.

Once I get the car up and running, I have a short block that I will start building into a race motor. Plans are to do a 2.6L MID sleeved block, with all of the goodies. Other than the MID sleeves and head work, I will do all the work myself - with the help of a local buddy who is a 951 guru. So, since I will be doing it myself and have some fiscal constraints, it will most like make it a bit of a long term build.

But first thing first - I just want to get the car on the track by spring.

Who is your 951 guru? I'll be at Mid-Oh the 21-22, No garage this time but we could park the rigs together. I too have a new project I'm having fun with, I dropped the NA trans today. Do ya want to have dinner Sat eve, or will you be going shoe shopping again?

Dave - I'm always picking his brain.

Are you going down on Friday to do the open day? I'm gonna do Friday, so if you don't come down, I'll block off an area for you. No shoe shopping for me, but the better half will be coming to dinner so you have to be on your best behavior.

You gonna give me a hint on the project? I see you changed your sig - what the scoop? Dedicated track car?

Skip, negative on the Friday lapping, but I'll be by Friday eve if the track is still unlocked I'll go drop my trailer. Save me room for a rig/car, OK? The new car is just an NA that needs a clutch. The old one is out, waiting for a parts delivery.

Made a little progress in my sloooow rebuild. Took advantage of the 60 deg December day in Cleveland to lay down some primer so it's all set to paint. I'm scheduled to pull the motor from the donor car next week with the help of a buddy and his lift.

What an awesome project, Skip! Do you know who made those rear fenders? That's some gorgeous wide-body fabrication from the looks of it!

Looking good Skip!

FSAERacer, IIRC the rears are GT Racing carbon (widebody), and the fronts are The Racers Group dry carbon (stock width)
