3.? Liter 16 Valve Turbo Thread

I believe Garrity went to med school so we end up cancelling the whole project. The engine was never done.
Regarding EMS I use a TEC 3. I remember that my programmer took less than an hour to do the basic program and then press a key, that put the engine at 0 degree, went full throttle and voila, the program was 75% done. Made three passes at the dyno, minor adjustments and got 488 rear hp. Went on the road for 30 minutes to adjust part throttle. I Know the programmer is an expert, but in a total of a couple of hours he came up with a program that i'm being using for two years. Priceless.

Angel, cab you share your ignition map from your TEC3, is it possible to take a screen print from it and post please?
I'm amazed at how they did it, I've seen autotune on fuel mixtures work like this but sounds like some autotune on ignition......wow
thanks

I remember giving the programer the ignition parameters. So it was not a program auto generated table. I don't remember from whom I got the maximum advance and retard values, but they were almost spot on. I will look into printing and scanning the table.
Regarding Garrity I won't even go there. I just hope the brand new 2.7lt head I shipped directly from Germany to him and never got back, went to a nice engine. I already passed that chapter a looong time ago.

Still wonder how does those Wisecos work 4mm overbored alusil cylinders???
4mm sounds too much taken from original cylinders and into my knowledge Wiseco does not offer Ferrostan coated pistons ?

my last post of the igntion map picture didnt really show values too well, I have copied a summary of the values into this image, couldnt work how to post a Excel spd. I have much more granular data in my EMS, but this is a good start anyway.
For the guys with a 16v 3.0 turbo, please have a look at your maps and this one and make comments or identify differences compared to my values.
Keep in mind mine is high compression & medium boost. 10.9:1 & 9-10psi
1 psi = 6.89Kpa, Kpa/100 = bar
thanks

I am definitely interested in the ignition timing values as well. I feel I am a bit conservative currently with my timing and I just installed a water/meth injection system so I would like to see what others are running. I have a TEC2 EMS.

OMFG!!!!! some one get this guy an apron .
Duke what else have you found has it dropped a skirt?
what kind of rpms were you at ?
you've kind of talked be out of a nasty 92mm stroker crank .
funny how we use all these big studs and trick gaskets so you don't blow a head gasket . you would love to have blown a head gasket hey ?

Scary isn't it
From what I can tell the piston crown broke where it attaches to the rod (pan still on).
It gave up when the boost came probably not more than 4500 rpm. The engine overboosted and hit the limiter at 27 psi and before I could let of the gas - gaboom.
I think it's safe to say that a 968 piston cannot really cope with 750 nm

But it sure held up well with 18psi
That limit is the price to pay for big bore/short stroke oversquare engine. Plus the 968 piston doesn't have too much meat on it.
951 pistons are better in this respect (100mm bore vs 104) and a bit sturdier also.
