I'm unsure of the price, as IMHO, I don't think welded cams are the way to go and never considered looking into it. I wouldn't ever trust a welded cam at 8k+rpm. If you can get them for that price and they work, it will be money will spent.

I've been waiting for the right moment to unleash some pics of my beast with the 16V head and custom cams. I do believe that moment has come...

Damn DDP! You have the engine vertical too! Did you dry sump it?

Back on topic (well sort of):
Even just talking about custom parts for the 16V heads makes my wallet, bank account and credit cards all hurt at the same time.
At least as more people start to turbocharge these engines we can gain a good understanding of what the factory cams will do in a real life enviroment.

Thinking of an 8v does that to my wallet. Only because I know with a 16v the money is at least well spent and I'll get some good gains from it. Can't say the same for the 8v.

A pair of 968 exhaust cams can be welded and reground to high lift/duration 1 intake/1exhaust cam specs for $863.00. Ask me how I know.
Dave, do you have data regarding welded/reground camshaft failures?

yes, I know some people that have had failures but to be fair, it may also depend on the quality of the shop doing it. The shop I heard did them was well known.
The second problem I have seen is that they seem to have a shorter life span. I'm not say someone can't find a really good shop to do the work and have good luck with it, I'm just saying the ones I saw were not good. Thats why I like to start from new billets.

If we're having a price contest here I can have 16v cams reground for half that price
But as Dave I'm more interested in newly made cams.

Dave, got any new pics on your interesting 16v stuff?

Well DDP beat me to it but I will be posting pictures and info in another thread. I just need some more time to take pics and write up what my findings are. Not to be secretive but more to make sure I didn't miss anything. As you know, this is a tough crowd. My 1000rwhp thread went to hell in less than 6 hours and someone got banned, lol..
