I have a chance to buy a Huntley MAF w/ chips used.... What is a good used price for one of these and are they any better than say a Vitesse Maf or Lindsey Maf...or any other Maf for that matter? Also...does anyone have a pic of the Huntley Maf installed? Thx

Blake, stay with what you have untill you can go Vitesse. I ran a stage 4 Huntley for a couple years, works fine, but not up to Vitesse standards.

Vitesse MAF install is a plug and play to stock connectors other than 1 wire.

The Huntley I had used no stock connectors was all wired into an ARC 2 and DME harnes, not a simple job.

Vitesse is local to you and you have seen first hand what John's customer support is like.

Hi David,
When you say not up to Vitesse standards,
do you mean the resolution of the ARC
as compared to the SMT 6 ?

Vitesse chips are very close to spot on without the SMT6, the Huntley chips were not.

I relate it too buying a 5 year old computer verses today standards, works but...

Let me jump in here for a second. Most 951 MAF on the market use a PiggyBack controller to massage the signal to appear like an AFM signal for the DME, the DME has AFM chip. Vitesse takes a different approach! We modify the code on the chips to recognize the MAF signal. We support a variety of MAF sensors..

I wouldn't go into details of the advantages of doing the signal recognition on the chip, it has been discussed plenty. Perhaps people that switched the AFM chips to use Vitesse MAF chips with their aftermarket MAF would share their experiences...

We use the SMT6 for fine tuning purposes not to convert the MAF signal to look like an AFM..

I got almost 30 RWHP going from ape to Vitesse with Autothority MAF. This was before I really tuned it well with the SMT6 - which made another HUGE difference.
I have gone through 3 sets of AFM chips and 4 sets of MAF chips, and the Vitesse are the best. And you can really make your car come alive with the SMT6, if you want to.
I still cannot believe the extent that I can easily tune my car and the price.
I believe I could put a stock cam on my car and tune the afr very close in a couple of hours.
If you drive around with the SMT6 on your laptop - even if you have the slightest hiccup, you watch the tracer which tells you in real time the exact load cell you are in and you adjust. SIMPLE. Really, I think even Hosrom could do it.

The Huntley MAF setup is a Ford MAF, it works just fine. The issue isnt with whether one MAF is better than another, the issue is whether one piggy back is better than another. There are certainly better mouse traps than an ARC-2 but it does its job just fine.

Special tool, I have to ask since you are using it as an example, were you using your APE MAF correctly? If so 30HP is not only believeable but I would imagine a little low as you should have picked up more boost.

Caveats, addendums, release forms, etc below

I have not used John's MAF setup, I have used more than one Huntley MAF.
I would NOT buy from Huntley and I WOULD buy from John.
I prefer the SMT-6 to the ARC-2. Both work, however.
Cant think of anything else to endemnify myself from
