MAn does it smoke from the assy lube spilling on the headers. It also taps a good bit I guess it will take long for oil to penetrate all the bearings and lifters.Good Oil Pressure idle is rough seems to be OK.Did anyone have tapping for a while on start up after a long down time?

I have the Milledge middle cam, and don't be supprised if your lifters make noise . These cams are not easy on lifters, and will make alot more noise then the stock cam . Lifter life will also be reduce ,by quite a bit.

After the first 20 min drive, new lifters , should not be making noise, but with the milledge cam, I still get some noise.

The noise could also be from the injector pulses in the fuel lines since you have the lindsey fuel rail, probably the lifters, though.

The cam noise would depend on which cam is run. The larger the cam lift... the more the noise... because the base circles are smaller than stock.

I just finished mine with exactly the same "problems". The smoking very likely comes from installation of the cam tower dripping lots of oil behind the header shields. It took 20 minutes to burn off.
The tapping sounded like lifters, but was really an exhaust head-header leak, which was resolved by loosening the bottom header joint and tightening the header nuts on top really hard (and then obviously re-tightening the bottom joint). If the "tapping" is an exhaust leak, its noise intensity will be a function of the engine load (contrary to lifter noise).

Looks great billgot. I hope to be there soon...

I'm considering the most tame JME cam (PHT 277/XS-14)... Anybody have any thoughts regarding the 15-20hp power claims with an exhaust? How about power delivery?

I have the stock cat back with a 2.5" cat bypass and the standard chips/FPR/MBC. I'll be running 15-16psi.

TIA,
adrial

I need to do my cam soon also... but want low down power, not interested in more revs or peak HP. But I cant seem to get good advice or experience on the right profile for my setup.

I researched this a year ago with webcam and a few others. After talking with a number of vendors, my results indicate that the stock profile yields the best result for "low end" power. It seems like changing the profile from stock just moves the powerband up the rpm scale.

We have had cars with new lifters that made noise for days on end until they finally got pumped up enough.
