Default Spinning connection on intake

Undoing a connection at the KLR port on the intake, I notice that the part in the intake spins. Leave it or do something about it? Note: if you select option 2, please suggest what should be done ...and how

it appears to have flats for a counter-hold wrench to prevent spinning.

ideally you should remove that piece from the intake if possible, clean it up, and epoxy it back in place to assure it seals.

Yeah, that flat part is more flush on bottom and not much to grab on top. I suppose I can put a bolt in and pull that out. Wonder if there’s a seal in behind though, making that unneccessary...

Agree it needs repair. Dirt entrance and Vac leak spot. I need to fix mine. Have not come up with a plan until I see what the piece looks like removed.

If it spins it leaks, so I'd fix it. JB Weld would make it better than new...

you can just screw it out - take some sealant and glue it back in - thats it...

What kind of sealant?

I like the wheel in your thumbnail! I have the BBS RS.. they were fitted as a dealer option when the car was purchased. However, they are pretty worn out. Wish I could refinish them all shiny like yours.....

In the interest of science, I pulled one out of a spare manifold and can confirm it's threaded in the intake with 14 x 1.5 threads, with no signs of sealant from the factory. So if the threads are stripped, I suppose you could helicoil it back to 14 x 1.5 rather than use JB Weld, although drilling for helicoils will create metal shavings, so I dunno. If the threads are still good, you can probably just tighten it with a 13mm open end wrench and be done with it, or maybe use some red or blue loctite if it seems to keep coming loose.

It’s threaded? With no seal? Wow.

I may have exaggerated when I said ‘loose’; what I noticed is it started turning as I was undoing the AWESOME Laust vacuum

I guess I’ll just turn it a bit clockwise... but I am really surprised it’s go no seal, o-ring, etc.

Thanks for showing us the piece Tom!
