I don`t know if you have seen this movie from the International Car Show IAA in Germany in summer 1977. From 16:00min you can see the Porsche 928 part. The shown 928 for example had already the rear fog lamp. (Click "auf YouTube ansehen")

Great video. What strikes me most is how no one is looking down at their phone, and instead is personally engaged in the reality present around them. While I love cars from this era, I miss the way society interacted the most.

Good morning everyone- it had been a month since we opened our PayPal account titled “#1 Docs”. We collected just over half the $ needed to obtain these Docs from Germany. This morning I tried to transfer the money from that PayPal account to Andrew’s PayPal account- apparently I have to transfer it to my account and then generate a new transaction de novo from my account to his. I’m going to double check with PayPal “help” to see if it can just go straight from one PayPal account (mine) to another (his). I can’t see why that wouldn’t be possible, but when I click on “transfer money” I only get options to link my bank account. So, rest assured the money will get over to him one way or another and I will post a screen pic or something showing that the money is getting to where we all intended it. Thanks again for the spirit involved in pooling our resources to do our part to help make #1 more complete! Stay tuned as I navigate PayPal...

I am not an expert on PayPal at all so this may be completely wrong, but I suspect that by using the Transfer option PayPal thinks that you want to “transfer” it to your bank account. Instead use the Send Money or Pay options (or something of the like) and send it to the intended person’s email address, as a gift so there is no fee.

You’ll figure it out...

More importantly, we hope the documents get into your hands soon so we can learn more! I'll make time to drive to Chicago if it helps!

Also, an update from this end.

The paperwork is almost here. Yesterday I spoke with Nakul, another friend of Bernd from Germany who does frequent business flights to the United States. Nakul is other serious Porsche community member and is landing in Miami tomorrow (saturday 2-8-2020) for a multi stop trip in a few major US cities. It is my intent to meet up with Nakul sometime within the next week to take possession of the paperwork. Just so happens that DasRennTreffen is happening in Miami this weekend so I'm tempted to hop on a plane and get there for that as well.

Last week Bernd was kind enough to tell me about more detailed information shown in the paperwork and the content just keeps getting better. Since we do our best to make #1 a "community asset" I will be sharing complete images of all paperwork right here, hopefully very soon.

It needs to be stated that we were absolutely blown away by the thoughtfulness and generosity of the community here. First with Bernd from Germany, who spotted the papers on Germany Ebay Classifieds and got it to to our attention to begin with, and of course abrecia (that I was already behind in the favors department with when this started) who started (and contributed to) a paypal fund for the package. Then there were a number of community members, some who know us personally, and some who do not, who contributed to the fund. We can't forget the other two Porsche enthusiasts, Marcus and Nakul from Germany, who are hand carrying this stuff from Jens to Bernd then to me across the globe to get it reunited with 928 #1. By the way EVERY step is volunteer, no one in the chain asking for a fee. Thank you to all.

With regard to the paypal account; While we fully appreciate the energy, enthusiasm, and generosity of those who contributed, we feel the funds should go back into the community in some meaningful way. We would have graciously declined an offer to raise money for these papers, but it was all going before we could do that. Any "Crowdfunding" methodologies in our community should be reserved for individual members in "true need" of the funds, things like bankrupting medical bills come to mind . I also think the crowdfunding concept is appropriate for community events, as long as event accounting is clear and credible. To me, that is the most important part of accepting (or soliciting for) donations, investments, etc. : Have clear and mutual expectations, and account for expenses versus outcomes.

Cheryl and I have discussed this whole situation at length, we're putting it back into the group to decide what to do with the $625. Our vote is to give it to this event:

Sharks in the Badlands 2020

This is a NEW event being put on by Harvey928, also being billed as Rendezvous 928 #2. There's been a lot of great events over the years but we feel our community needs more events, in more places, more often. This is how we grow the community with new blood. This is also Harvey's first go at organizing so we'd like to get behind him. We can discuss how best for Harvey to use the $625... maybe open bar for the first 10 people for five whole minutes! That alone would be worth the trip.

Awesome update! A trip to sunny Miami & DassRennTreffen sounds like fun! Do It!

This also gives you the opportunity to enjoy meeting the great people that have made this addition to #1's history possible...

As regards the use of the $625... As a frequent donator to this and other 928 causes, I support your idea to turn the funds over to Harvey928 as seed money for Rendezvous 928 #2 aka Sharks In The Badlands.

As always, a class move Andrew. I'm on board with whatever you decide.

alrighty- I have transferred these funds to you Andrew as I’m not familiar with the organizing of these events, and the last thing I wanted was to forget about this account balance in my PayPal account. I didn’t mean to create a “hot potato” but at least this way, the funds reside with the man for whom they were intended anyway.

It took five weeks, car travel, air travel, handoffs, etc, but all the documents arrived here for Valentines day. While its a good day for us here, the recovery of Dwayne's cassistrot remains the best news of the week!

I'll post all soon for a drill down of the information, there's a lot here.

I am so thrilled that you got the paperwork for number 1. I am also very happy for Dwayne and his car.
