Default Sharks in the Badlands

Everyone, I would like to start a conversation on having an event here in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I was thinking of having it next year 3 - 5th July 2020. Location - I need input here. I was thinking Deadwood SD (It has plenty of hotels, gambling, and history) , and we could take a road trip to Mount Rushmore and through some other places, stop at the Naked Winery in Hill City for food and drinks. Plenty of places here to drive. Custer state park if you want to drive and see live Buffalo's and other animals. For the family there are plenty of places to see and have fun. You can tour a gold mine, or go fishing and other activities.

For the wild and crazy folks I have a friend that has a party bus that would shuttle us around and let us drink and have fun while he drives us from place to place.

For you motorcycle folks Sturgis is also a short drive away. So you can say you went to Sturgis.

I need input on where anyone would be interested in doing this. Is there any interest in going to Mount Rushmore, or Crazy Horse? If you wanted a further drive Devil's Tower over in Wyoming. What about the dates? I selected those dates since we have SITM in June, Frenzy in Sept, Third Coast in Oct.

Please respond here or send me an email at [email protected] Thanks Harvey

Harvey,

That is a part of the country I do not have enough seat time through, so count me in. It may be better to use the following weekend in case there are some July 4th family traditions that would be hard to break. I am in either way if we get enough people on board. Glad to volunteer in any capacity as well.

Gambling, open roads, scenery and national landmarks -- you've got a winner. And, a lot of people take that week off anyway. Planning on being there if you have it.

Beautiful part of the country we have not explored. That said will try and make it your way Harvey. As Hans^^suggests, may be better to switch the event to week or two later as not to conflict with the July 4th holiday T

Thanks for the suggestions. That is why I asked for help. I was wondering how the 4th would work or not. I am open to any dates.

What about July 17-19th 2020? That would give people time to refresh from SITM and the 4th.

Kevin, years ago you drove to Monroe NC to pick up some 928 parts that I sold. I moved to South Dakota about 4 years ago. Looking forward to catching up.

My pleasure Harvey and once the weekend is locked in, I'd be glad to give you a hand setting up the event...ex: negotiating reduced group pricing for host hotel, etc. T

Thank Tony. We have plenty of towns around that we can work from, once a date is set. Sometimes Deadwood can get expensive and the closer you get to August you will have bikers coming in for Sturgis and it gets packed and the rates skyrocket.

Default Road tour ideas

Just a thought,
Contact the local HOG chapter their road captain should have some great tour maps on file.

This sounds great, and would be within a two-drive for most folks. I think the second/third week of July would be the best choice.
