Of all the "save" stories, The Lump stands out. The twin dents in the rockers are from the high-reach fork lift that lifted it off a pile at the junk yard! It takes a special person to see the potential under these circumstances, and then make the effort to retrieve it, and then have the skill and passion to restore it to running condition. It has "patina" on the outside, but the engine is beautiful. Kevin polished the spider to near mirror shine.

Agreed.
It was a treat to see the Lump at FRENZY.
I have just reread the threads where he found the Lump then brought it back to life.
That takes some brass clackers.
In one of the numerous, neverending parking lot conversations at FRENZY, I heard Kevin talk about the number of times it took to rebuild the various components in the CIS until they worked, and more importantly, didn't LEAK!
I really enjoy this part of our hobby(sickness). Marvelling at the efforts and results of people who just won't quit.

It's all about the story. And the Lump has an undeniable story. There are saves, and then there are all-out rescues. Not only is it one of the more notable 928 rescue stories - in good company with Jim Doerr and Drooman's, I'd say it is probably notable when it comes to all Porsche rescue stories.
It's truly a 928 with character.

Frenzy; Thank you
Thanks to all for making a newb feel at home. I have had my '82 for three years. The only reason I still have it is because of the outstanding info and support given by this community. What a well organized event and fun time. My son and I enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Not knowing what to expect, we just traveled in for the day. I was actually registered to come last year, but had to cancel last minute. Parent things took priority for that particular weekend. I hope to make this my first of many.
