Default Any Experience with Continental ExtremeContact Sport for 16" Phone Dials

Planning to buy some summer tires for 16" phone dials soon after powder coating. Has anyone had experience with the new Continental ExtremeContact Sport Max-Summer Tires? They were produced to compete with Michelin Pilot SuperSport at a lower cost (now Michelin Pilot Sport 4S) and much more availability in sizes. They actually have sizes for our 16" phone dials: 225/50

Any news for it will be great!

thanks-Hoi

Thanks Jeff and Van. They are pretty cheap for the 225/50. Only about $110 per tire. Michelin PSS is never cheaper than $250 per.

I just ordered these for my wife's A7, so hopefully your experiences will hold true for our cars!

thanks-Hoi

Theyre a very quiet tire too, and are great summer and wet tires.

I've now used a couple of sets of these on 17" wheels on client's 928's.

Seems like a fantastic tire, when new. Great stick, quiet, economical. Will need to see how they perform over time to judge them.

What's disappointing is that these tires are also available in Europe for the D90s that came standard on the GTs and S4s. Unfortunately, no importers care to import them. They would be my tire of choice.

Hoi,

I have them on the 16" wheels for the Bimmer 3.0CS in the avatar. Lots of guys on that Forum who have moved from the OE 14" rims to 16's use them. I like them a lot on that car. I also have the Michelin Pilot 3S on 18" wheels on the BMW 840Ci. I like those a lot on that car as well.

Good handling 16" are hard to find these days!!

Now if they would only start making it in a 245/45/16, they might sell a few more.

I just put a set on my '84 930, but had to go with the stock sizes, 205 and 225.

For my fellow 911 owners... There's no one out there right now that sells the 205/55 and 245/45 in a 16" except the old Michelin MXX3 for Coker Classics.... way too much $$. Bridgestone has their RE-11, but the 205 and 245 tires are not the same speed rating... frustrating.

My point above is that they do in fact make the proper size for 928 D90s. But, nobody chooses to import them.

Personally, I've had bad experiences (6 sets) with continental extreme tires. There great in the beginning, but half life they get very noisy and You'll want to change them out ASAP! My wifes 2014 benz, my brothers vw cc, my 928 now have them, all very noisy!

911user. About how many miles/years in do they become loud? I figure these tires will go on cars that won't go pass 1000 miles annually.

thanks-Hoi
