Especially when you consider there are a handful of "old timers" who will say never use any of those three oils
With age comes experience, with experience comes knowledge. You don't usually ask a teenager about particle physics do you? Well - maybe you do.

Like I said, I've seen the damage done with my own eyes. Mobil has paid multi-millions in claims damage from their oil failures. If you don't want to believe, that's fine, just don't lie on here and say it never happened.

Exactly who are you calling a liar? The only M1 in my garage is for the Saab.

doc, you sir, are a dick.

I've been using M1 15-50 in my GTS for years.

GB wanted to know what type oil I've been using as he was impressed with the lack of wear in my engine after 240+K miles.

Seems that no one knows. I tried to find out what the factory fill for my 1990 s4 was. I think it was 5w40 but can't say for sure.
Again, what will this information do for you?

and Doc, as ive said many times, I'm not an oil engineer, but ive seen some things with mobil 1 on the track that raises many red flags. . this isnt a fluke when oil pressure drops to the point where the oil warning light comes on when hot. hen, with an oild change to redliine or amsoil, that problem goes away.
sure, not an issue day to day for the most part, but this is a warning sign of a crappy oil.
Do i even need to mention 250 race days on the track for over 17 years with no oil related issues??? (running GOOD oil)

Someone asked the question so I answered.

For the record I run 10w50 Miller's CFS at the moment.

Can you explain the difference between "MultiGrade" and "Low Viscocity"

Because this chart says 10w/30 has the broadest range of temperature support.

OK, if somebody mentions Mobile 1 and SAAB in the same sentence, I have to jump in. I have been driving SAABs since the mid 80s. When the M1 first came out, a reliable source at Gibson Motor Company (in Perrysville IN and legendary SAAB specialists) told me, "Yeah, don't put any of that stuff in, makes the seals leak like hell and the turbos won't last." That of course was might have been around 1987... Sorry for this "slight" high-jacking of the thread.

Back on subject, I put 20W-50 Zrod in my 928, and "I've also never had a problem." Not that that last bit of circumstantial evidence amounts to a hill of beans.
