Default Replacing Steering rack

It looks as if I will need to provide a rebuilt steering rack for my 88S4. While this is being done, what other repair/replacements should I look at during the removal and replacement of the steering rack?

How much time and parts do you want to invest. Next level of "while you are in there" would be motor mounts, OPG, tie rods and boots, plus sway bar bushings

You could probably do the inner/outer tie rods. The anti roll bar bushes are cheap to replace.

Getting into the MM and the OPG are another significant amount of labor over the steering rack. However, most likely worth it. The lower control arms, and lower engine cradle are there, but they just don't fall off the car. Also, if you are paying shop rates, you aren't going to get the cleaning that would happen in a DIY job. They are just going to pop and swap the parts, and give the lower end a brief clean up for work conditions(unless of course you pay them labor to scrub everything).

Source the MM and OPG from Roger as he has the latest and best materials for this job, and follow the tightening instructions on the OPG to the letter. Do NOT overtighten it.

The silicone oil pan gasket has a design flaw, it needs crush rings.

Inner/outer tie rods and dust boots would be about the only things additional I would do at this point. Like DocMirror posted, any thing else you do is significantly more labor and expense.

Replacing the anti-roll bushes, although cheap to replace, are not normally necessary.
Replacing them would amount to just looking for something else to do. Looking for additional things to do is not something normally associated with a 928. Those additional things to do normally jump out at you and grab you by the throat.
