Very confident that it is a scam because the previous "real ad" for this car was much more extensive. Those pics are "copied" from a cell phone.
This car had been "on sale" for months, maybe even 1-2 years.
Asked for close to $30k a few months ago.
I remember due to:
1. Opal metallic
2. Euro auto 1979
3. Brown pascha
4. Asked too much!

I remember this one now. I forgot that I posted it originally. I agree with Hoi. You don't go from an extensive CL ad, then eBay, to a couple of crappy cell phone pictures. Smells very fishy.

Interesting, S4 spoiler and front bumper cover and a GTS rear bumper cover, someone has spent some money on it at one time. Also makes your wonder if it was for cosmetic reasons or accident repair.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153026114370?ul_noapp=true

Please educate me. WRT model year, why does it matter when a car was registered? If it was built in '91 as a '91 model (i.e. a GT), how can it be accurate to call it a '93?

Seller also claims the GTS mirrors and Cup Is were factory installed. Anyone heard of this for a non-GTS? Even the one US spec GTS flared '91 GT came with D90s.

Thx.

I'm sure that Theo and others can confirm but that gap between 91 and 93 seems to differ between US and ROW cars in that the US saw a clear delineation between the 91 GT and the 93 GTS with no models sold as 92's. It differs for ROW cars. IIRC a UK Rennlister had a 92 GT that seemed to be a hybrid between a GT and a GTS (GT bones in GTS clothing) I think it had a build date of late 91 but the title referred to it as a 92....or an early 93.

Listed with no V.I.N. number I believe Strange description " * MY91 but registered in 1993. This 928 is believed to be one of the very last GT's imported to the UK

Great looking '89 S4 5-speed on BaT. 59K, Black over White. Big mx all done within last 100 miles. And original radio. And correct wheels. And drip rail. And jump post cover. And air filter right side up. And my favorite all-time 928 combo, heated seats AND rear A/C! And I want it! And I can't afford it.

If it has been driven for at least a few hours and still runs, then it’s likely OK. Residual media in the intake runners usually kills the motor in seconds or minutes. Regardless, it would be nice to know details of what was done.

Ug. I just looked at the records for the ‘intake refresh’ and belt. 1/2-jobs (at best) done:
Timing belt: rebuilt water pump, no rollers, no shoulder bolt bushings.
Intake: no WOT switch, no CPS, no MAS rebuild, no injector service.
Intake and CC’s: R&R, stripping, PC is not a $720 in labor job unless the shop rate is 40/hr or less or they did a super-half-a$$ed job.
Intake and belt will need to be redone if this is to be a driver.

They should have left it alone.

As is occasionally the case.

When I looked at the add, I thought it looked a little too good to be true.

Saw those receipts and just shook my head. A/C “converted” by putting a new drier and R-134a connectors on. So damn much wrong with the work done on this car.

With bidding up to $34K, it doesn't seem to be an issue. Both my GT & GTS new timing belt/water pump were not right. It's one of the first thing I check even with new service. The tensioner was not rebuilt on the GT and boot was crumbles gone and the clamp on the tensioner of the GTS was not tight. Both services done by "Porsche" shops.
