Is it strictly a matter of time of ownership?
If so, what period of time does a flipper become a "seller" advertising the car he owns?
Why does the term "flipper" seem to have negative connotation?
If a buyer likes a car a flipper has for sale, and agrees on a price with said flipper/seller, why is the flipper/seller somehow dissed by parties not involved?

Yep, I spoke to him yesterday too - similar info shared. I also got the VIN: 9289202069
- does anyone have access to run the database and see if color is original, LSD, etc?
It apparently has the complete toolkit, compressor, etc. And the original Blaupunkt.
I think they will take $3500 (listing updated to $2900 from $3900 but that was a mistake per the seller). Surely it's well worth $3500. I'd grab it if I wasn't on the east coast.
Slow to engage reverse is concerning but not as much as if this was a later model I guess.
Bad CL photos but someone out west should jump on this, what looks to be a fairly clean one-owner '79 at $3900 (with original radio by the looks of it) https://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/6125219915.html
Spoke with the owner when I was at my daughter's graduation at ASU. The car is located about 20 minute drive from central Scottsdale. The seller is selling for a family and doesnt really know anything about 928s. He did seem willing to disclose on the phone and told me it had 160k miles, cracked front seats, reverse takes a while to engage. I opted not to look at the car ... originally hoped to do a drive home with my son or daughter.

Could be good for someone wanting a 5spd.

I passed because I don't feel like rebuilding another motor anytime soon.
He did not tell me anything about the paint.

And on BAT: http://bringatrailer.com/search/porsche+928/
Price is a bit high to these eyes. If serious about this 928 be sure to get a PPI from a reputable 928 mechanic and use what will be needed to bring this 928 back up to spec. This will help with negotiating the price down to more current prices of lets say mid 20's.02 T
