Yes I did use sealant on pump. Yes I did tighten bolts to pump as specked from Porsche. And radiator fluid leak is odd because I just removed, superficially cleaned and installed back on.

The transmission cooler problem looks somewhat obvious although why it should fail is the interesting bit- these are not high pressure rated coolers like the engine oil cooler circuit. Sounds as though oyu need to give 928 International a call on that one- quite common availability and not too expensive - just a PITA.

The water pump failure is a bit more worrying and presumably you are sure of what you are reporting- one assumes no connection with the ATF leak. Edit: The tensioner mount thread is reportedly prone to leaks if not sealed after a change out if that is what you have done [as I seem to remember]. Obviously you need to determine the source of the leak and that probably involves more tear down not really a big deal assuming you have done this previously. Annoying - yes!

Just be patient as you get to the bottom of this issue and you will soon be laughing this off all being well.

Regards

Fred

With my first Porkensioner installation there was a coolant leak around the threaded plug that Ken provided to replace the tensioner arm stud on the water pump. I believe that no longer is true, but just bringing that up as a possibility. Also, with my first timing belt job I had a leak when I was not careful about tightening the clamp on one of the small return lines on the water bridge. Sealant or not on the water pump gasket, it would be odd for it to leak there unless there was a defect. I assume you were scrupulous and careful in cleaning off the old gasket and making sure the surfaces were spotless and smooth. If the old gasket is glued on the block side, it can take hours to prepare it for a new gasket. None of the 13 water pump bolts should communicate with the water jacket, so they would not be a concern. One of the four tensioner bolts communicates with an oil channel and is coated with sealant as shown in the WSM and Porken's instructions, so that would not account for your coolant leak.

I've never seen a failure of the trans cooler. Maybe the source of the engine coolant leak is obvious. If not, it would be best to fix/replace the trans cooler and start the car to make a more thorough observation of the engine coolant leak before you tear things down. Bad pumps can leak from the pulley shaft seal, but I've not encountered a new or rebuilt pump with a bad seal yet.

I'm sorry you ran into these surprises at the end of your first TB/WP job. This is not a simple procedure, and I guess it was more surprising that yours seemed to be going so smoothly. My first one took me days and days and involved a lot of hair pulling mishaps.
