Or better yet, a "factory" part that has all the right markings on the box, "made in Germany" sticker on the box.......open it up to see "made in china" sticker on the actual part.

They sure are proud of their German made boxes!

I haven't seen this happen with a Porsche part yet, I think it was a BMW.

Not all the time, just have the list up during the sale, same as they have if here.

Good Lord, had that happen yesterday on a rheostat. I just looked at it, tried to use it, laughed and called the complaint department for my parts guy. Parts guy laughed at me and offered wine as a compensation and brought the new part.

^This.

One of the hardest things to do is to sincerely admit you f*ed up and apologize. You have to stomp down your ego and surrender your pride. Far too few people ever figure out how to do it, or realize how truly powerful of a thing it is.

Of course, this whole thing could have been easily avoided if you'd just gotten over your initial disappointment long enough to call 928Int'l, or even just to post your screed in the form of a question and request for thoughts. So, less: "This guy screwed me!" and more: "I feel like I got screwed." Then, it would have been far less confrontational as people pointed out that 928Int'l is a cornerstone of the 928 community, that Mark is a Good Guy, and that buying used parts for a nearly 40 year old limited-production car is always a crapshoot.

And, yeah, ultimately, he's right: This is a very small community. If you get a bad rep, everyone will know it and you'll find yourself desperately short of friends very quickly.

Seriously: Reach out with a genuine apology. It'll be good for your soul, your relationships, and your Shark.

I'll reaffirm that when I've ordered parts that weren't in stock, they've magically appeared at some point later, once they found the part in question. That happened to me with the always-rare S3 belly pan. Which I still have to put on the damn car :-( There are a couple other things that I'm sure at some point I'll be contacted about, which are hard-to-find.

Here's what I forgot to mention.

Not only did they not have the part in stock when they advertised they did, but when I received the other parts I received a store credit for the $37.50 for the gas cap that wasn't available.

How about returning my money Mr. Anderson as I'm not doing business with your company ever again. I don't believe you can hold my money if you can't produce the part.

And yes, I paid for shipping for a part that I did not receive.

I will be calling your company to see if you will do the honorable thing.

I forgot something, if I send you a check for $37.50 will you get off rennlist forever, and promise to never darken this website again? Seriously, I have the money, and can paypal it to you in a matter of minutes. But - you gotta live up to the bargain, I want you off this site so bad I'm will to pay you for it, and you agree NOT to come back in another disguised user ID. Deal?

I don't understand why you didn't just nicely call and ask them to do this from the outset? You could have avoided this whole drama. Trust me, they aren't out to screw you or anyone else in the community. They need us just like we need them.

docmirror, do you really want to curtail free speech? A forum is a place for people to express their views. Just because they are not your views doesn't mean they are not valid. Are you sure you don't live in Austin?

You do realize you have ZERO 1st Amendment rights on a privately owned forum right?

When ya act like a dip****, don't be surprised if someone calls you out for acting like a dip****.

Hmmm.. if I recall correctly (could be wrong) but when I have ordered parts from 928intl. and it has backordered parts what is available is shipped and when others arrive there is no shipping cost (it had been paid for in first part of order.) Now why was murphs money not returned??? Because it is on backorder. If you want a refund CALL AND ASK FOR ONE. Or wait for the damn gas cap to arrive. I am waiting for a part (coming from germany) to get the a$$ end of one of my cars repaired. When it shows up it will be delivered and car will be worked on. As a side thought I have not found a single smog place that can actually test the caps (may be only my area) but my smog guy just looks and checks box that says functional.

Murph had a bad start here, why not let this die and start over?

seanR,

Could you point that out somewhere as I guess I missed that when I signed up for the forum. Please cite the rule and where it's located. If I'm wrong I'll gladly apologize. And please stop the name calling, it's really not called for even when you do it in a passive aggressive form. Thanks, Murf

Problem is, OP can't or will not see himself that way. EVERYONE ELSE here apparently is the dip****.

Murf, it's probably best you move on to another 928 forum where all the members are like you and won't use 928 International anymore.

You're confused. It has nothing to do with forum rules...the first amendment does not guarantee your right to free speech on privately-owned platforms.

Seriously, why are you still digging?
