Only one way to find out..a guinea pig OB that is a non-interference engine. Those pumps are as Chinese as Peking Duck.

The bearings are made from hardened chewing gum.

About all you can say with any certainty is they LOOK like 928 water pumps..... which is all that is needed to sell them.

Aren't these the ones with a hardened impeller that can eat a hole in the aluminum block?

Some of the full price units come with metal impellers. What is on the ones ordered from Porsche, are they OEM spec or Laso or are those one in the same?

And Mark, you just get here or what?

But only if the bearing fails.

At less than $50 I'm tempted to check one out. I could make it a disposable with each engine rebuild like spark plugs and belts. As much as I hope, the engine comes out most years. A real man pulls the engine, anyways.

Mark,

They are so cheap more for economic reasons, exchange rate changes, money markets in Asia and all that.

Indeed I was speaking to an Oriental expert on this very matter recently and he was trying to explain all this to me. After a monologue of a few minutes I responded "Fluctuations". To which he curtly replied "Fluctu Europeans"!
