Default Engine Fire UPDATE WITH CAUSE

Well, I haven't had very good luck with my S4 5 speed so far, just replaced the MAF and got it running really well. Parked it in the driveway for a couple of hours and then started it up to back into the garage and bang she started on fire! Luckily the garden hose was nearby but the damage is done. It's up to my insurance now to determine the car's fate.

Fuel system is completely intact still, fire looks to have started on driver side near the front bumper, maybe power steering or air conditioning.

Here are the grizzly pics!

As with the above posts: sorry for your loss.

Air conditioning is on the passenger side.

The 'usual' suspect (to the extent that non-fuel-line fires are at all usual) for a fire starting at the front-left is a shorting power lead to the ABS pump. It's a BIG wire that goes to the battery and has no fuse.

So sorry Ted, I hope you get a fair settlement from the insurance.

And most importantly nobody was hurt, cars can be replaced.

Sorry for your loss...

It can be saved.

Then drove 6,000 miles in 15 days to prove it was saved.

Oh no.... That would be a disheartening thing for sure. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
