Ron, make sure your next 928 is comfortable. Because she is going to make you sleep in it...

I think in general vinyl wraps last 5-7 years. I imagine a gloss white vinyl wrap might last longer but might transition from gloss to satin at the end of its life.

Junior and I are vinyl wrapping his 1987 924S (thread here) and

I buy our vinyl from MetroRestyling.com What's cool about them is you can buy vinyl in any size and they have a lot to choose from, such as this gloss white from 3M. I think the 5ft by 30 or 5ft by 35ft option SHOULD get a whole 928 (around $250ish). You can buy a smaller size from a sample square to something large enough to do a panel.

If you are really interested, buy a sample and tell me to bring my special squeegees, razors and heat gun and we'll do a panel on your car at SITM.

See you in the driver seat, Ron, at SITM!

Wrapping was something I considered too until I was told it wouldn't work well if the top clear coat of the pain was missing

Sounds like a plan, Ron!

Unless yours was a respray, it is single stage paint. I'm wrapping over fairly dead Guards Red single stage paint on a 1987 924S.

Replaced the gear oil, fixed an oil leak, replaced the fuel injector electrical plugs. Still running great.

Replaced belts, degreased bottom of engine (well, most of it), replaced clutch slave line, took off the wheels, and soaked all the rusty fittings on the brakes. Next up, replace brake lines (rubber ones) and pads. Rotors look good. Calipers are very rusty, but worked fine last year.

Since it is a '83 factory grand prix white should have been a single stage back then. I had my '85 repainted 2 years ago and it was single stage. If yours has a clear coat it's been repainted. I know of a body shop in Shelby that would paint it pretty reasonable!

It needs a lot Lou. The PO bought it with most of the paint gone, and quite a bit of rusty spots. He hand sanded the rust down, and shot it in his yard with some white paint to protect the body. The paint is full of imperfections and runs. I have pics of how he got it. I’ll find them and add them to this thread.

it will need a full sand and repaint.

If you are willing to remove the bumpers, mirror's quarter glass, and trim, then re-install it all afterwards, you will save a lot! I went down and looked at some of their cars they just finished, was pretty impressed for the price! A friend of mine has a '84 944 getting done there now. 704-471-2122, Affordable paint & body on Hwy 74 Shelby. Also another pretty good one is : Fransisco Auto Body 704-626-1449, in Charlotte off of W.T. Harris, a few guys from work have had them paint their truck's, good for the $$$. I f you do it soon, could be done before SITM!

Started to replace brakes. After knocking off most of the surface rust, it looks like the PO had replaced the front rotors with slotted, and the rear with solid rotors. The pads are like new. 1 front sensor and 1 rear sensor are broken. Replaced front rubber brake lines and the front broken sensor.

moved on to the rear, and when I tried to loosen the hard line from the rubber hose, I discovered that the PO had used RED Locktite on the fittings. This needs heat to loosen. Crap. Not looking forward to this.....
