pulled off the steering wheel and found a bit more than I planned....the spring broken off the turn signal assembly....bummer, more work....but...I have a few spares with matching part numbers, so I had to do some more surgery....
This is why you should wear gloves when working on cars...
had to hold the power window motor gear while trying to bolt it into place. It hurt a little bit, but in a couple hours, all marks and pain gone. Window works...moving on.
I am not having very good luck with the contact cement. I have used this stuff before, with great results, but no so much this time....don’t know if it is the old vinyl, or what, but the stuff just seems to get gooey and not dry. I am using very thin spreads of glue, on both sides, and letting it dry to a tack, then securing.
i am hoping I had some old adhesive. Went and got a new can, and am trying again. We shall see!
Ron,
The glue that is almost always recommended is the stuff in the can from Home Depot or Lowes (Westworth, or Wentworth or something like that) It is heat resistant and sticks like crazy.
That’s what I bought. Lol..I think it wildwood? I’ll post a pic. Just got home from work, it’s been setting for about 22hours now...I’ll go down to the basement in a few and see if it finally bonded....btw, it stuck to my hands like “the clap”.....
Hmmm, good question, not sure, as my musical tastes are all over the map, I’m not so much into loud as I am clean sound... either some old school Dio, or maybe Kansas (dust in the wind or point of no return comes to mind)...perhaps a little bit of Beatles, or maybe one of my favorite driving Jams...Highway Star by Deep Purple. Then again, there is a good mix on the local 80’s station....aww heck, I’ll probably just turn it off and listen to the 928 exhaust...lol.
