if the seller described the car as this and when the buyer got there and it was misrepresented than he has every right to walk away or make a lower offer, PERIOD. not one time has the OP said he wanted a $50k car for $10k but if the seller misrepresented than he had every right to leave.

As far as the pics... one of them is 6 years old. Clearly a good professional detail job would have been the ticket -but what doesn't need attention on a 27-year old car? Does the engine & tranny have to be taken apart for a 'complete listing of issues'?

Ahhh... another 911 owner chiming in.
I think they were both wrong -in different ways. Used car buyers will always try to talk down the price -that is figured in to what is being asked at car lots. New cars too.

I'm squarely with slider on this. I've been burned on ebay too - even with a ppi. My 86.5 was a nightmare when the shipper arrived with it. After $10K or so, and hours of my time, I had the car that I thought I was buying from the pictures and the garbage ppi. The seller really misrepresented the car. I was in PA he was in FL. If it would have been anywhere near economical to sue, I would have. If I could have cancelled the deal, I would have. I have no sympathy for sellers that do not disclose material stuff in advance. Broken odo gears, tranny issues, and serious idle issues count as material in my book.

Doc, yes it is Cassisrot. I (we) plan to offer advice and assistance to the seller to properly clean, repair & display the car to sell. I will also review the 10 years of maintenance records -especially the tb/wp job. I have already made some basic recommendations to the seller that are specific to 928s -and used cars in general. I will keep you informed.

"The rear ws wiper does not work and the headlights have a ground wire loose somewhere. they work sometimes and sometimes not. It runs great but hunts a little at idle.. No surprises. I have all the service records back to the day I bought it in 2005. The odometer is stuck at 94928 the car has not been driven but 400 miles since it stopped. "
I bet I could find at least $2000 of parts, and another $2000 in shop labor. I passed up a Cassisrot in LA for $6000 that was in similar shape. I've got $100 bet that the AC doesn't work - at all.
Needs nothing really means needs a lot of attention to all electrical systems, and several other mech systems.

Huge wins for the asking price:
*12-way seats on both sides!
*Seat memory on both sides!

*2-tone deviated extra-cost interior!
*Extra-cost (high) Cassis Red metallic paint!
*Polished manhole wheels!
Yes and absolutely for certain, there are things that need to be addressed -but look at the payoff in driving a highly optioned, rare colored 928!
You've done everything possible to defame the daughter, slander the seller, verbally abuse those that see a REAL diamond in the rough... all the while dipping into the standard bag of tricks that used car buyers utilize to muscle a lower price out of the seller.
And, if I ever do sell my 928 -I am fully aware of not getting what I have put into it and being no longer stock, it will have a limited market. I know that.
And, I also know the age-old practice on RL to beat up a car until the owner caves -and then brag about what a 'steal' they got.
Yeah, steal is right. And karma IS a bitch.

Ever after reading this thread I still would have paid at least that much for it.
I don't care what the market ever does, these cars are too cheap, it's ridiculous.

The fuel tank problem is that the vent hose which goes from the top of the main body of the tank to up near the filler neck got pinched against the body so now a big air bubble gets trapped in the top of the tank. about six gallons of air

Ya, i could fix all that, you could fix all that, lots of people could fix all of the problems. just because he did not want to and was getting a bad vibe from a seller with a car that has been lied about and sitting (sure it was "well kept" years ago), but that does not count now. obviously it was not well taken care of while in storage.

When you see the photos I have taken of the car -in it's current state THIS WEEKEND- you may start to see just how petty his objections are... and for his $8500 winning bid... not even a $10k bid.
His damage has been done... negative feedback left -causing another bidder to back out. We'll see how this all ends.
