Tony-
custom color Surflex, from Joanne at Colorplus. She had made a batch for Bertrand's '91 Cobalt car a few years ago, so I had her use that formula. It's an excellent match.
And I keep misspelling Soffener in this thread as that's the name of the stuff Joanne sells for leather conditioning.

Ditzle day on the Cobalt car:
Finished shocks:
Corrosion on the old front adjusting collars, bead blasted one to see how bad it was underneath the dirt- I am beginning to understand why Mark buys California cars to dismantle. Though these will be great to re-sell to someone who hates to adjust ride height.
Replaced broken Y-pipe at charcoal canister:
Stripped, sanded and painted door lock surrounds:
Removed tint from rear quarters and rear hatch- Cut trash bags to the size of the window (using the outside surface as a template....), sprayed undiluted Simple Green on the inside, covered with plastic, baked outside for an hour (it was ~90 here yesterday), scraped an edge with a razor and pulled off the tint with minimal residue left behind. Easy peasy

The metal Y-pipe was in a box of spares that came with the car, it was in a hookedoncars bag. The original one was not actually broken until I touched it to see whether it was broken, then it was.
Not sure whether anyone has brought a metal replacement to market. Can't be that tough to make, I bet Ducman could knock out a bunch of them in an afternoon....

Took the Cobalt car out for a spin last night, got her good and warm and beat on it a little, couple of runs to redline- Runs great!
Next on the agenda is the center console- HVAC diaphragms, repair of massacred stereo wiring, and general cleanup of the rootwood console inserts.
How does one break the center vent lever off its mount?
How are stereo installers not all in jail?
I've done this repair before, hopefully there's enough wire left to reach to the back of the radio..
The rootwood console piece is interesting- it's held in place with strip caulk:
It's in worse shape than I thought after getting a good look in broad daylight. The better part of valor may be to have it shipped off to a pro. We'll see.

I have some answers for you.
Stereo installers are like body men. Many times they HAVE been in jail. Just not when they are working on your stereo.
Very easily when someone forces 27 year old plastic.

I can send you a scan of the printout of the autocad drawing ('lectrical bytes long gone) if you are interested in making more.
You may be surprised at the final all-in per unit cost.
EDIT: 3d printing these might be the way to go (if the available-to-mortals materials are up to the challenge.)
