Sounds like the metro Detroit area. I would assume willing to travel for a decent mechanic though. Sorry I couldn't be more help, I'm from the Westside (Kalamazoo) originally. Good luck and keep us posted.

I posted this in the other thread, too.

The title of this post is pretty generic and unlikely to grab the attention of the right people.

I would second the suggestion you post another appeal, titled something like "Need 928 Help in/near Detroit." You can paste a link to this thread in the new post.

And there's this. I searched thread titles for "Detroit," looking for RListers who are in the area. They have a monthly get-together. It's worth talking to the locals.

Metro Detroiters, know of any nice 928s for sale

There are lots of others.

There's another thread from the same person.

Sharks in Hell is tomorrow. Just about everyone from the Detroit crew will be there. This is the event if you want to get plugged into the local 928 crowd in MI.

I do all my own wrenching so I really can't make any recommendations on a good shop in the area.

^ Munks always seems to have at least one 928 around when I drive by there.

I don't know if he works on cars but we sent our injectors to be cleaned and flow tested by Richard Jensen at cruzinperformance.com. He is in Traverse City, Michigan.

+1 these guys seem great. I haven't had them work on my cars because I do my own wrenching but I have talked with the owner numerous times and they seem very detailed oriented which I like.

Just to let everyone know the older gentlemen is an 84 year old man but his nephew is handling his affairs who is 66. The shop he took it to said the injectors werent closing. His battery is going dead but they swapped that out temporarily to get it fired up. We are in the Metro Detroit area.

I just had him contact Munks as well. I think ultimately the 84 year old owner is going to sell the vehicle as he no longer drives it anyway. He is just repairing the car for the next owner.

If injectors get stuck, it's typically shut. They have to be commanded open and I've never seen any fail open. Also, if they were sticking open the engine would be totally full of fuel and changing the battery wouldn't make it start. If a battery swap made it run I wouldn't suspect the injectors at all. Sounds more like something is staying on in key off. I'd pull fuses and measure each circuit with an ammeter to see who is the offender, and then go from there.

If the owner is willing to put the money into this car I have a contact whome deals with the Porsche community in Detroit and is very highly sought after. However if the owner is not willing to put the money to make the car correct this contact would rather not get involved.
