Seat Reupholstering Thread
I am starting this thread to document the reupholstering of my front seats on my 1984 928S from tear down to the finished product. Here is the before picture followed by a picture after the removal of the original leather. Jose, the owner of ABC Discount Upholstery here in Vegas will be sending me pics throughout the process so more pics to follow...

Any 928 seat is extremely difficult to retrim. You really need patterns from a good old seat to have a chance. Paul Champagne seats can be used a reference for excellent trimming. The foams will need to be addressed also. This is a big job and if you are doing it on a budget don't expect a perfect result. I used to help my trimmer here in Australia and believe me they earned their money. These are complex seats. Good luck.

I still think removing the pillows and incorporating them INTO the covers ( think pockets ) rather that work the covers around would be better, easier and less work. I will give that a try next time. Looking forward to see them done.

Jose is aware of what needs to be done as far as re doing the foam. Like I said, more pictures to follow. These seats are being redone in black and brown vinyl with French seams in black stitching in case you weren't following the other thread.

I'm really interested in how this turns out. Not for my 928, I'll have my front seats recovered in original leather, but my El Camino needs the seat recovered. If this guy is any good, he'll get the job.

If the other projects he had going are any indication, they should come out nice. Hopefully they will be done this week and I can make it to Cars and Coffee.

Some of the San Diego guys who speak Spanish tried to find a good place south of the border and had no luck. They found good places, that did some great work, but nobody wanted to do all the prep work for such a small market combined with none of the 928 owners wanted to leave their cars in TJ for a few weeks.

Wow Hayden. When you had posted you were having the seats reuphostered I figured you meant you were having something like this installed. EBAY 928 Seat Kits
Some RL guys have done some nice DIY jobs using those kits.
I had no idea he was disassembling each panel to create a pattern and then piece it all together. This looks really labor intensive. I'm really curious to see the finished product. Can't wait to see the daily updates.

I am stitching my own seat bottom using "vintage" leather scavenged from some extra rear seats etc. Not easy, whatever these upholstery guys are getting is well earned
