928 racer challenge..kibort vs the world.. March 22-23 Thunderhill

If it were fully submerged, there shouldn't be any drop of pressure...
I guess you should rephrase this to 'the pickup and oiling issues of a 928 are not an issue for me... Yet...'
Perhaps the anti foaming and film strength qualities of Amsoil are enough to overcome the occasions that air is feed to your bearings...?

Mark my question was directed to Drewster67 not you. I'm not familiar with NT01's so I can't comment on they're level of grip. I can only surmise that the Michelin and Pirelli slicks would have superior grip and pull more G's
It's not something that I'm proud of but I'm pretty sure if I were to drive your car on track your engine would die.
Drewster your car looks like it has a race seat, that too makes a big difference on how fast one can take a corner. I wish you continued success my experience has benn very different.

Drifting
I dont think there is an issue with our pickup. again, i never see any oiling issue, during a 1.5 g turn for long durations. it drops to maybe 4.5bar for the turn and returns as soon as im straight or braking again.
also makes me think of driving style for a second. i do a lot of trail braking into turns, so that puts all the oil up front for a majority of the turn up too the apex. maybe thats buying me some time. however, still, this doesnt address that sucess at thunderhill for a 1.5+ g turn for a 7 second duration and no issues.

If Greg were to design a laser cut horizontal baffle to be weld attached to his spacer. (which i plan on buying) this would be a nice product for us.
The baffles perimeter should be louvered not drilled to allow easy oil return but when cornering the oil could not easily travel up trough the louvres because of there angle toward the center of the sump.
This laser cut aluminum part (i assume spacer is alum.) and it's 4 attachment 'ears' and louvers could then be bent to shape by hand on a form to keep production cost very, very low. Then Greg would weld the formed (10or12 ga.) sheet aluminum baffle to his spacer. Very easy.
I'd like this along with an oil accumulator, and that would be the best wet sump
set up imvho.

All wet sumps used in any road racing car have this oiling issue when cornering.

Well... Doesn't that right there prove there is an issue with the pickup!? And that there's an oiling issue!?

thats a real good point..... maybe because the Mobil 1 was foaming, PLUS breaking down its viscosity at temp, the problem created huge issues in oil pressure that amsoil / redline didnt do.

01s cant compete with slicks that's for sure.
As far as blowing my motor on the track - Im not 100% sure you would unless you intentionally held a gear.
My Cars weighs in a 2635 with me out of it - Sparco evo race seat.
I run her all the way to redline as much as I can.
Clip info - Inde MSR is about 4300 Feet elevation - First part of the session I kept it in drive - then went to 2/3 shifts -
Thank you on the continued success - I'm transitioning from Porsche to Corvette for DE and Time Trails. My Z06 is a lot more fun ....
At some point - I will be selling the 85 - either just the shell or all inclusive. Shes a fun car but she has gone as far as i want to take her.
Peace

Yep 85 ROW
BTW - This is my open invitation for any SOCAL or NOCAL racers to join ProAutoSports http://proautosports.com/schedule.html 5/24 and 5/25 - Memorial Weekend at Inde Motorsports Ranch.
We welcome new members! I can probably arrange a discount on track fees for anyone interested.

We will most likely be running config 4 -
Track does allow camping - small per night fee or 10 miles away in town Wilcox AZ - you have 4/5 decent hotels to stay at.

and a horizontal baffle would prevent oil from sloshing up during the short quick turns too, helping to prevent oil being flung around by the crank , leaving more oil around the pickup.
you also could keep a little more oil in the motor as you know.
Keep up the racing Kilbort, it's good for all of us that love these Porsches -and it's also good for those that make their livings maintaining/race preparing 928s when there is a serious contender out there in one that's holding up!

Drewster....after watching your video with the "slush" box....I have lots of suggestions to improve its performance on track.... I can hear lots of parts where you lift, then it upshifts...which sucks...then you must downshift again...
I think you are running a 4 speed like I raced for YEARS in the estate....what we did to make the "ghetto-quential" as we called it was this
Disconnect kickdown and bowden cable....then start in 2.....it will start in 1st gear off the line....quickly bump to 3 then back to 2.....this will hold 2nd FOREVER....until you shift to 3rd....then when you want 2nd you just slap it back to 2.....poor mans sequential for sure....works perfect... I also would adjust your vacuum modulator a bit....increase it (turn clockwise) 1/4 rotation...it will firm up shifts and shift speed quite a bit...
It will only shift gears when you move the lever....always start in 2....if you start in D it will almost instantly shift to 4....and lug like crazy....
