Kibort Motors moves very fast, as I was told. I haven't been over since the Friday afternoon pull and Mark is already about to start assembly!

We took them apart and also checked them for leaking. all but 2 cylinders were 100%. could be due to dirt during the intake disassembly, so we are going to clean them up a bit.

They noticed that the exhaust gaskets are in the heads (aluminum rings) . are they usually changed out? I know we didnt do them 7 years ago when i added the headers. are new ones easy to put in. (i suppose you just tap them in and the installation of the headers compresses to make a seal.)

If all goes well, i should have the engine built up by this weekend for the following Friday installation. (With Bill's help of course )

The heads will be ready tomorrow?? You are having 39mm intake valves fitted. Right? Use new exhaust gaskets. Use a new gasket/seal/O ring for everything.

new exhaust gaskets will be used.

new gaskets, seals, and o rings. i think the only gasket ill re-use is the intake gasket.

Mark: You aren't re-using 21 year-old intake gaskets, are you?! How's the pan gasket look??

Well, the Holbert car is amazing if the original intake seals are still pliable, but it's obviously best to use new and not have to wonder whether they are responsible if there is a problem later. The same applies to the hoses under the intake, although I will confess nearly all of mine are original despite 192K miles and having the intake off several times, except the front breather hose - that seems to be the one that deteriorates fastest from oil vapor soaking. Knock sensors are a definite yes to replace. Look at the Hall sensor too. Check the idle switch for WOT function. Bridge pins middle to 3 and look for continuity starting at 2/3rds throttle motion. Nearly all I test are broken. They can be repaired.

I dunno mark, that engine has abit of carbon buildup, more so actually than the engine I have taken apart after I have been driving. lol,

this does tell me though that you would really benifit from a proper sharktuning, or a proper standalone engine management with some dynotuning.
