M462 ... A plastic coating on the inside of the windscreen, in addition to the middle laminated layer, to reduce injury to occupants from glass shards. The only problem with it is that it scratches more easily, as many have found when using a razor blade to take registration labels off.
I298 ... Don't have definitive info ... but, must be related to timing alterations to account for lower octane unleaded. Australian cars were altered to allow for the crappy fuel when unleaded was first introduced here. Others should have more specific info.

C00 is just the country code,that car was 1st sold in Germany.
I298 is specifies a particular coding plug on the brain bracket for the combo of transmissions, fuel type, and country of origin. See below.
Sekuriflex is just a particular type of safety glass laminated windshield.

Prior to coding plugs, cars in Australia and presumably elsewhere, had different vac advance and retard configurations on the distributors to account for lower octane fuels. Can't recall there being an option listed for this however.

Thank you. Any cautionary comments regarding a car with I298 option - doesn't sound so common or desirable? Car was imported from Germany and has Euro gauges, headlight dimmers, and no bumperettes at back end. Not sure what I might be getting myself into. Am also looking at 1990 GT US car (other VIN Rob looked up for me).
89 Euro doesn't have a sunroof or rear air. 90 has both. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

On '87-95 ROW cars M298 and M299 just mean same engine including ECU's, catalytic converter exhaust, fuel tank and stickers as C02 US model. '87-88 low grade fuel version for Australia was indicated by C23 country code and IIRR didn't use separate M code like '85 MY M151.

Sunroofless '89 5-speed Euro vs. U.S. 90 GT is a tough call- The Euro is an X-pipe and a Sharktune away from being as fast as the GT, and if you're more than 6'1" or long-torsoed, the no-sunroof is a nice and novel feature in the States. But the GT is a GT and has PSD vs. an open diff on the '89. Than again the '90 has the iffy airbag system while the '89 doesn't. But the 90 has the much more modern-looking airbag dash, unless it's cracked...
Bottom line, need to know more about the condition, miles, maintenance history, and cosmetics of each, and the rough asking prices before being able to pontificate much more....

Fitting an LSD into the 89 isn't hard - and it can use any year LSD from 83-89. The shim calculations etc. are very well documented in the workshop manual.

1990 GT is black, black leather, 90k miles, sunroof, enhanced air, rub stripes, no tramp stamp, new tires, new battery, new clutch, new brakes, power steering rebuilt, clean interior with only blemish on driver's bolster, very good paint, no accidents, TB/WP 2 years ago/2k miles ago, $15k firmish
1989 Euro 5-speed is metallic grey, black leather interior, no sunroof, no enhanced air, interior is good not great, two thin front to back lines in dash; momo steering wheel, needs serious repainting and very minor body work (parking lot scrap stuff), gauges in Km and German; needs total brake rebuild all 4 corners, Ac/climate, tires, TB/WP, battery, probably other stuff. Generally sat for 2-3 years outside. $7k negotiable with fair amount of room.
Additional thoughts/comments please. Thanks in advance.

That's easy. The GT, unless you're going to be on track a bunch, and thus don't care about cosmetics, will be wearing a helmet, and will be upgrading the brakes anyway.
GT is the obvious street car choice, Euro is the obvious track car choice other than its lack of LSD.
