Hi Rob,

I'm new to the forum & you my good man appear to be the God of VIN.

Went & had a look at a late model 928S the other day (booked an inspection for this Tuesday) that seems to have a slightly bigger engine with 16 more valves & other non standard goodies!
Can you kindly check this vin as I may found a bit of unicorn car.

Hi Simon-

Yes, this is an unusual 928, it's a 1986 Australian market right hand drive car with the M28.46 32 valve motor. It's one of 150 Australian market '86s, 120 automatics and 30 5-speeds.

The M28.46 motor was a slightly lower compression (9.3:1 vs 10:1) version of the new 32V motor for Australia's lower octane fuel, so it's rated at 288 hp vs.292 hp for the US market 32V motor.

Thanks for this Rob you are right on the money (wasn't sure if this 928S had a replacement motor)!

Engine number is 89G05119 (G I think relates to the production year 1986)?
It looks retro cool with the Slate Grey exterior & Ron Burgundy leather interior (I hope the inspection goes well).
Has the twisty turbo wheels which I like.

XA2 was a 12.995,00 without VAT Deutsche Mark Option! 1,955 DM is one €!

Looks like this!

Apologies, I don't have color codes for the '82 model year. Side glasses = door glass and rear quarter window glass. I don't think Porsche ever tinted their mirrors.
