Thanks Rob.
Interesting... almost all those "features" are gone
now has 91S4 AT engine
1990 GT trans
Sunroof has been removed and covered
GTS rear quarters (heavily re-worked e.g. bondo)
Seats swapped with fixed back racing seat
no wheel locks LOL
Spoilers gone (but big wing soon to be added)
Brakes are now S4 (along with suspension)
Still have the dash although runnning Megasquirt
Original engine is said to have ingested water and was destroyed. Insurance money paid for the bodywork and engine swap..(all before my time).

@Rob Edwards First of all - thanks again for pulling the options list.
I since then purchased the car and am slowly catching up on deferred items (car came with no history). Looking forward to enjoying it soon.
Two questions if I may...
  1. Is there a way to find out the original paint code and interior color (plus any options re: full leather etc.) from the VIN? my car was fully upholstered in white (all pile carpets are black but everything else is white with black piping). I'm toying with the idea of restoring to original colors but want to confirm before I go that route.
  2. M158 option - I've seen several variations of this. Your list indicates it is definitely the Stuttgart P/N 7 649 881 070 correct? just confirming.
Thank you very much!

esharon- If your options sticker in the rear of the car is illegible then the color and interior code should still be on the copy of the sticker that pasted on page 3 of the warranty book.

If you don't have the warranty book your next option is to visit your local Porsche dealer, find the oldest person behind the parts counter, and ask them nicely if they'd be willing to look up your options list on their PPN computer from your VIN. If that doesn't work, then you need to order a PPS document from Porsche.

And even then I don't think Porsche's info will be able to discern whether the deviating piping is part of the color code. I think there are a few special 5-digit numerical codes that refer to deviating piping but that's based on a single recent observation, not sure it's correct (yet).

RE: the Blaupunkt Stuttgart 7 649 881 070, that is correct for '91.

@Rob Edwards thank you so much for your help and for maintaining this thread!
I got pretty far along with a report from VIN Analytics (a link I found in a RL thread) which had the info for carpet, interior, roof, seat upholstery materials etc. - attached that part of the report in case other folks are looking for this type of info and want to be sure what they are getting for the $12.90 report fees.

Having spent time with 70s Italian cars I am already in a better position and willing to take the hit of small inaccuracies. At some point I might pull the trigger on Porsche’s more expensive TPS but not before I take care of many small things with the car.

as for the radio - M158 seems to read many different models but the info you provided is the most specific I’ve seem - not many Stuttgarts going around but I’ll be in the lookout and hopefully get the next one so I can revel at the sound of 80s technology.

Many thanks
Eran
