Yes it is and now a Federal offence to sell or distribute it.
I called my wholesaler to get a few cases but already pulled from the shelves - all because it is blue and not colorless or amber.

Apparently the FMVSS rule supports using colors of flud to identify which are correct and which are not in specific systems. Anybody know what brake system has a blue fluid specified? If there isn't one, I propose that BLUE be added to the passenger-car and light truck list...

Your tax dollars at work, maybe. Or did an overzealous attorney at Continental/ATE stumble on the requirement and force a voluntary recall? No mention of an FMVSS action cauing the recall.

Are there any alcohol based dyes you can just add to gold/clear fluid for bleeding?

It looks like orange is an option:

I would think that when flushing with same color fluid, if you can’t see a difference, you don’t need to worry because it didn’t need changing in the first place.

Except maybe if it were blue; then, the blue color would mask the fact that the fluid has degraded.

Oh gosh, maybe there is a good reason to not have blue brake fluid.

This irritates the hell out of me. Another damn bureaucrat justifying his job and catering to the retards of society. Do any of you people have a problem with putting orange/green/blue kool-aid in to your coolant tank? How about putting the gas where the oil goes? No? guess we aren't the retards.

I wonder if it will get classified "for off road use only" like non-DOT approved headlights and likes. After all, it is racing fluid.

Maybe they could market it under a different use like paint stripper or rust accelerator. If that doesn't fly, surely someone will figure a suitable dye trick.

Have one unopened on the shelf and currently running blue, so I good for a couple changes while we wait to see what flushes out (pun intended).

Heh, finally something that is allowed in Germany which isn't allowed in the US. Normally it is the other way around. Except maybe for Carlifornia.

Other than resistance to "Big Brother" control .....

What's the big deal about blue brake fluid?

Let's see ..... Red cars go faster ..... Blue brake fluid stops faster ?????
