I know everybody here is religious about brake fluid replacement schedules and all, so the different colors of fluid help you see that the new-colored fluid has pushed the old-colored stuff out when you do your annual flush. Right?
-----
K has her 4Runner maintained at the dealer, for reasons that generally escape me. I coerced her into letting me do the last brake replacement when I showed her she'd (we'd...) save about $800. I sent her the next time with a note listing all that had been done, so they wouldn't do any of it again. Service salesman pointedly asked about why the brake fluid had been flushed (along will the trans, rear drive unit, power steering fluid). Worries me just a little.

wow this is STUPID...... I run blue/gold in Casper with NO issues.....I don't even get the typical "spitting" out the top of the brake reservior that most race-track 928's get.... I don't even change the fluid all that often..... this is a bummer hopefully they will make a different color to make things easier...

My brother's honda goes into the stealership. He has 200k and its on the original brake fluid. Since when did that become a non-wear item? Crazy.

So I called my supplier and he read me the "official" piece of paper.
Says that the DOT requires all brake fluid to be either clear or amber....and that ATE Super Blue obviously isn't....so they have "pulled" all their inventory.
My initial thought was "F^@k. Is this seriously all the DOT has to do?"
However, after thinking about it, all day, my reaction is "F^@k. Is this seriously all those government f^@ks at the DOT have to do?"
Like it seriously matters what color it is? Someone is going to get confused an pour it into their.....radiator, thinking it's coolant?
Anyone that hasn't had serious brain trauma knows this is government stupidity, to the absolute maximum.
When you stop and think about it, we are paying all these government f^@ks great salaries, great health insurance, and great retirement benefits.
When does it stop? Who stops it?

Does it have the "Do It Yourself" manual transmission, or the superior "Fully Equipped by Porsche" Automatic Transmission?

I follow the change advise of Porsche and enthusiasts on fluid changes. I also own a 43 year old car that until I got it was running 43 year old fluid without issues, some of this, some, is pure marketing. As for the color of super blue, I did find it much easier to know for sure when pure fluid was exiting the caliper bleeder, now I will just have to waste more expensive fluid just to make sure it's running pure, great job regulators, the world sleeps more peacefully without blue brake fluid.

What's next? Making sure gasoline conforms to its octane requirements? And the pumps are accurate? Fascists!
Banning blue fluid strikes me as silly but the anti-government whining is both.

Not sure other than some troll playing with the teapartiers.......but I just thought the letter looked odd. Plus..I'm sure it's easy enough for ATE to slap a "for off-road use only" label on there and continue selling.... Like most of these things.. there probably is way more to the story than just the Gov't coming in and stopping the sales
