If the caps, rotors, and wires are priced well I'd like those

Greg are you willing to describe the mechanism that created all this damage?

That is VERY SAD! I hate to see stuff like this, but SO GLAD the driver is well! These cars are AMAZING and can just take a BEATING! That is why Wilhoit loves 928's one saved his life back in the early '80's in a horrific crash that the EMS folks thought no one could have survived. Like this accident hardly even a scratch. At least that is the story I recall reading once upon a time...

I actually was not told...but since all 4 wheels were bent/broken, and the starter motor/lower bell housing/front mount of the rear control arm are look like they were "attacked" by a large concrete file....I'm guessin it went over a curb.

That "impression" in the front bumper was obviously a 10" to 12" tree.....so I'm guessing that tree stopped the car's forward travel....

These cars are amazing! Hit a tree, push the front end over 10", and the doors still open and close, like the car was new.

I had another stroker car that was "attacked" from the rear at 40 mph by a jeep....while parked....and the doors opened and closed like nothing had ever happened, in that car, too!

Amazing!

I've hit and been hit hard in these cars. They may not absorb like modern cars but they are still very safe.

One of the things that initially sold me on Porsche was visiting Aase Bros wrecking yard in Anaheim. 911's with a V in front up to the firewall and doors still opened and closed. Likewise a few minutes walking through a Pick a Part can show you a LOT of cars you don't want to be in.

Greg,

Sad end to what was obviously a very nice 928. The front end damage is very similar to what happened with my late 90 S4 some 7 years ago when some tw*t on a mobile phone clipped me PIT style whilst I was overtaking him on a bend - I careered out of control into a wall at 70 mph initial impact being on the front passenger side. My motor survived and powers me today. The shock bent the front end of the drive shaft so that may well be toast on this example. The air pump bracket snapped off and the a/c comp was toast. The back side of the [passenger side I think] cam cover was cracked, later to indicate a cracked cam wheel, a few cam belt teeth were missing and ultimately two bent inlet valves on number 7 cylinder after piston contact as the motor ran down.

Personally, I was not so lucky experiencing a fractured L1 lumbar vertebra that I more or less fully recovered from after two months off work recuperating. Just as with this example, despite being initially KO'd, the doors opened as if nothing had happened- she surely saved me from what might have happened with a lesser car and despite my injuries was able to walk out of the car [just]. On the more amusing side, a few minutes after the crash whilst sat in a local chaps 4WD, I saw the most beautiful set of "cobalt blue" stars I have ever seen- just before my vision experienced "total white out"- that was a bit alarming- for a few minutes. Must have been a "divine message" pointing me towards the Cobalt Blue GTS chassis I now own.

Let's hope some indirect good comes out of this sad situation.

Fred R

So, I reckon a good chance of a motor recovery here if you can patch up the external bracketry etc which I am sure is well within your mastery.

Regards

Fred R

OUCH!!! Custom by crunch! Glad the pilot came thru it OK. Looks like a tree ran out in front of you. I remember seeing a traffic video of a 928 crash on the Autobahn, 928 doing 240+KPH, blows Lt. front tire, rolls about 6 times, shedding parts right & left. Doors, fenders, hood, hatch, and wheels go flying. It finally flops down on it's belly, a literal steaming hulk. Driver gets out and starts kicking the car!!! PRICELESS!!! I wish I had downloaded the vid clip
