If there were award for ugliest wiring harness I think the old 79 might have won.
The routing might not be factory but it appears pretty clean. Time will tell.
I was a little discouraged with two leftover wires and a connector however, everything from the old harness is accounted for.

Awesome buddy! I have a new harness for the 82, but so far it is running fine with speaker wires and split bolt connections, scared to touch it!
where did the extra connector and (2) wires end up going?

Thanks for the kind words men. I have only drove it around the block a couple of times since installing the new parts. I had hope that my inop driver window was a simple power issue. Many posts back I detailed pulling/cleaning the motor and lubing the shaft. It works great with direct power to the motor but no love with the switch. After some quick research I found two threads about switches.

Between those two threads I hope to get the window working as designed. It is very hot here and not much fun to drive with no AC hooked up (future project) and only the passenger window working.

Small win for the 79 today.
Last Saturday I took her out on the road for the first time since the new alternator/front wiring harness project. Since my fuel gauge does not work I usually stop a couple of miles up the road and top it of with premium. When I finished fueling I got back in the car and CLICK. No start. I was super disappointed but not terribly surprised. New Alternator, New front wiring harness. Same old battery. I had my lithium charger with me and hooked that up..... nothing. I had a new battery at the house and brought that out and hooked it up. NOTHING. Single click.
I called the tow service and went about my morning. Did I mention that Sonja had followed me in her car from the beginning? She still does not trust the 928 and it turns out for good reason. I had it towed to the house and after unhooking the battery basically just threw a cover on it.
FF to today. I expected to find burnt wires somewhere. I really had no idea what I was doing with the front wiring harness. I started with underside. Starter and alternator looked good. I chased the harness as far up as I could and it all looked great. Took her off of the lift bars and popped the hood. The pin connector looked good and all of the misc connections were in place, tight and no burn signs. I hooked up the battery and tried to crank it. I thought maybe something got hot last week and it has been sitting all week so who knows.?.?.? Nothing. one single click. Unhooked the battery and was ready to move on with my Saturday. For some crazy reason I thought maybe the issue was unrelated to the last work performed. I jacked the driver side up and wondered "What would the Rennlist brain trust do?"
So I grabbed my rubber mallet and beat the crap out of my starter,lol. Hooked the battery right up and guess what?? Yup. Cranked like normal and idled normally. Wow what a relief.
Last Saturday was really rough. I had just received my early birthday present of four Koni Reds. Kind of funny that I keep trying to upgrade the car and make it awesome when I cannot even keep it on the road. My life as a 928 owner seems to mirror my life as an entrepreneur. One day I am king of the world and the next day I am thinking of liquidating everything and getting a real job. The 928 equivalent of a real job for me would be getting a mustang or a Cayman Gas and oil baby, gas and oil.
What fun would that be?
Soooo, the next step is installing the koni's , adjusting ride height and getting it all lined up. Richard at Garage928 has been gracious enough to let me use his facility and serve as a technical advisor for this project. May be thread worthy. We will see.

Funny, I had my 79 out to the 1st Saturday breakfast this weekend. About to run out of Gas before I got there, So I pulled in and gassed up. Turned the key and it would crank but not fire.
I just replaced the fuel pump a year or so ago, so not thinking it was that. I called Roger and Zane as I was only a couple miles from breakfast. While I was waiting, I pulled the fuel pump relay tapped on that for a bit, popped it back in as Rog pulled up. So to my surprise it fired right up... Not sure if it was what I did to the relay, or just having Rog lay his hands on the car.
As they said in the 70's tootsie roll commercial, "The world may never know....."

Well I am a little behind on the updates and pics. Yesterday ended up being a better day to drive to Atlanta and do the shock work. The two hour distance from my house to Garage 928 was the longest trip I have taken the 79 in 18 months. Between paint and misc projects she has done a whole lot of sitting and not much road time.
For this drive I did not try to test the car at all. Once on the interstate I kept it between 2400 and 2800 RPM. Here is the result.
After the drive I put it in neutral and just let it sit for about five minutes. I was listening to idle and wanted to see if it would stall. It sounded smoother than I have heard it in a long time. Apparently she just needed exercise.
The one picture of the complete work is passenger front. We ended up using a S4 spring and adjustable perch compliments of Garage 928. We talked about cutting the original spring down but due to time constraints and Richards generosity we used a set he had on hand.
Once the car was in the air we spent about an hour inspecting (and correcting) my slave line and starter wiring. Everything worked fine but it was one bad pothole or one arc away from being a complete disaster. I was grateful for the advice and the time spent. I love my lift bars and doing my own work but using the lift certainly allowed me to see things more clearly.
Once the shock work began it was much slower than I had imagined. I had not expected all of the time spent cleaning parts and fasteners before reinstalling. We had a blast and I enjoyed the time.
Once the fronts were done I noticed the time and had to leave. I had a farewell party for some dear friends in Chattanooga and had completely let time get away from me.
Richard offered to just leave the car and let him finish up. He said the fronts were the fun part anyway and the rears were less involved. He offered to let me use his personal car to get home so I wouldn't miss the party.
We expect the work, the driving and the final alignment to be finished up this week. Hopefully I will be able to take a 1/2 day Wednesday and run back down and exchange vehicles.

So you have Blizzaks on the front, but what tire is on the back? That's an interesting tread pattern.
I won't disagree that, if corrosion hasn't welded everything together, the fronts are more involved (read: Pain in the A$$) than the rears. Which removal 'path' did you take? I ended up removing the LCA mounts and swivelling the LCA out of the way to get the coilover out and back in. Very little room, had to wiggle back and forth to work the spring up into place.
On the rears, lots of folks have a boatload of issues getting the big pin in the back out due to corrosion.
It looks like you haven't too much crud under there.

Hello Joe - in the front we removed everything but the A arm. The lift made it much easier get leverage putting everything back together.
Sorry to say I have no idea on tires. I can look when I get it back. I understand the rears went good yesterday.
