Actually the Robbins car sold right at what it sold for a few years back, and was in line with all the others that have sold. It also had everything done to it and the A/C worked.

I too think the AC should be working considering the spec.

Given how it looks (lovely), I imagine some potential buyers might be put off by having to contend with an immediate unknown cost, especially if they're new to 928's.

cheers

In Mike's defense, I think I would be pissed too if someone publicly disclosed what I paid for the car if I was selling for more money. Willhoit wouldn't like it if someone commented like that about a car he was selling.

As far as what he is asking, the market will dictate what is worth. Many of the comments here will probably ring true, but in the end time will tell. Can't blame him for trying but he must understand that pricing it above the water mark will bear scrutiny here on this board.

Chuck,
I guess I was thinking of my car when I said a lot. But on his car I still think "considerable" I never saw his car listed on Ebay or Autotrader. Those have to be the largest two audiences. Maybe thats why he didn't get "considerably" more.

Nobody has mentioned a black 93 Auto that sold on Ebay for $52,5 back in July.

Thanks again for all the great feedback. I'm going to re-list at $56,5 and maybe look into air cond fix and a "pre".. PPI

Thats likely to be the only reduction. It is an asking price after all.
Happy Thanksgiving

Mike, a suggestion: Remove the "maybe look into" from the above sentence. The market for these cars is small, and anyone paying top dollar does not want surprises. To me, seeing something like "air cond stoped [sic] working... Must have leak" in an ad for a nice car is just like "Ran when parked". If it were just a leak, you would have fixed it. So fix it.

Also consider losing the aftermarket tailpipes. It's not an issue of taste, but originality. Why include the original (funky) phone? Because it is original, and many folks like that. But if they like your phone, and the original radio, they will not like your tailpipes.

Same with the wheels. Those are the correct wheels for a '93 (if they are original Porsche wheels, can't tell from the pic's). But Porsche never supplied polished or chromed wheels. Again, not a question of taste but rather avoiding the obvious "why did you screw up the original wheels" question. GB has an excellent wheel refinisher, he's done two sets for us and they came back factory-perfect. I would strongly recommend getting them refinished.

Two more suggestions: Lose the nonsense in italics, "You appreciate luxury and a sound appreciating asset. You know the first definition of luxury is a limited supply... ". You might believe that, but to many potential buyers (me, at least) it comes across as patronizing bull****. I know what I appreciate, don't tell me.

Also check the spelling carefully. Discerning buyers know how to spell.

Good luck with your sale. Seriously. I really do hope that low-mile '93 GTS auto's are worth 65K, or 56K or anywhere near that.

Mike - I agree with what Jim says above - you have to fix the AC - no buyers without..

I was a buyer in this same price range over 12 years ago with my GTS. If it had anything that didn't work it would have been a show stopper.

If a seller were to tell me -"oh it's only a simple matter of..."

Immediately I think if it were simple why didn't you fix it already...

so ...either you are stupid, lazy or you are lying to me

thinks ... if you are stupid what else 'stupid' did you do to the car...?
thinks ... if you are lazy what else did you ignore on the car - oil changes...?
thinks ... and if you are lying to me what else are you lying about...?

There is no good in this scenario - just fix it so its perfect, then you can ask top dollar. You can't say "no stories" with this story pending...

If my car had inoperative AC or any other pending repair I would have walked away...

Personally the wheels would be OK with me - the Telephone & RMB not so much - but on these YMMV as Ed would have said.

If they are original wheels better get someone like GB involved as they'll have RDK sensors. Doing wheels right means removing them and after repaint installing them back with new seals. If wheels are not original then its another AC sized or even bigger problem. Finding original set which has functional sensors isn't easy. Also dash might complain about RDK control off every 15 minutes. If not someone has jumped control box. Its it still there, does it work etc.

MW, you were ahead on this deal before you posted. You're managing to come from the lead to draw even.

You do know what gets all over you in a pissing match, right?

I am sorry but you did not BRING UP the market. As a used car salesman, you should be so grateful that there are still diehard 928 fanatics who are still willing to pay insane money for them. And these 928 fanatics are THE ONES that keep the 928 market alive. You are just taking advantage of it. Then again, we don't REALLY know how much you actually sold those claimed "$100K" car for, do we?

I really, really was not going to say anything until your last post. So you came to Mike's sales thread to pee on it and disclosed how much he paid obviously due to the fact that he beat you to the car. You continue to taunt him knowing that you have nothing to lose. And you did it in a "I am the high end 928 guru" beating on a defenseless guy sorta fashion. Next time, please be fair to all of us and disclose how much you paid for your cars and the ACTUAL SALES PRICES of them when you DO finally unload them.

Steve
