I have no recollection of a time when it was not in the driveway, and it appears I was well trained for working on this car.

Ken, eventually you'll find these strange parts, I wanted to pre-emptively point them out so you're not confused. They're called knock sensors. Here's a pic so it's clear to you:

S4 engines knock?

Oh dear...

Sounds like a band-aid for poor tuning.

I hear there's a guy that makes some kind of hose clap that "supposedly" helps with this.

If Ken has hose clap, I'll write him a script for some antibiotics.

Welcome newbie . We've known about this 928 here in the PacNW for some time. First time I ran across it, it had been rolled over in a semi- accident, but they stitched together two bodies (one AT one 5sp) so you should double check the frame rails for proper welding. After that, it went to another owner where it survived a hail storm but had numerous dents ...effectively writing it off...a fly by night shop bondo'd it up and it's hard to tell..... We did lose track after the last owner sold it due to thrust bearing failure.... ...But glad to hear someone is willing to resurrect it
LOL

Did you check to see if your kidneys are still there?

You should add your car to your sig so we know what you're talking about when you have questions

All excellent info - perhaps he should part this one out and use the funds to buy an 89 GT?
