I'll give you a call at the shop to speak of the options. What's a good time or a bad time in your day ?
Really, thanks for thoughtful attention.

That I can not predict. Totally depends on what I'm doing, at that particular time. Mary will let you know, when you call. You have to tell her who you are and what you want, to even have a chance of getting through, BTW. She's my "phone filter".

That was Greg. I think they're gone.

That right there is the way to go.

Unbelievable that they were found again; a critical piece to prolong the life of the car.

If Greg takes your core that would be the best way to go. Assuming you can afford it.

Relatively painless, almost foolproof, and Greg will likely give some kind of warranty. The only thing I can see to play devil's advocate is the mileage on the car currently.

Hey there Jim. Even though the car is at 125K, I am really diligent on all minor and major preservation matters. Regarding the transmission, function seemed just fine with the exception of some hard shifts that I was addressing via a new modulator, fluid and filter stuff always clean and on a yearly change out plan, no leaks, etc.. This took me be surprise.
This car means much to me, and I treat it that way. I've never changed a transmission, but I would like to see my gems life prolonged.
I will email and try to catch Greg at the shop.
Thanks again Jim.

Guys,
Just put the order in for one of Greg's 'new' transmissions.
Please feel free to post tips, pointers, etc. regarding everything from take down of the rear axle (especially the CV units), to the take down and refit of the transmission itself.
Thanks,
Craig

Think about doing the torque tube bearings while you're in there.

Be sure to mark the location of crossmember to body and eccentrics to body. You can use a paint marker on cleaned surfaces. Then realign to marks upon re-install.

Make sure transmission is secured to the jack when lowering/raising - it will tend to roll off. A transmission jack with a tilt platform makes this job a lot easier.

Some good write-ups should return from a search. Good luck.
