They are both glued and clipped into holes that were drilled into the body. If you remove them, you must fill the holes. Some people claim success with epoxy/glue but I prefer to weld the holes up.

Another vote for delete...makes a huge difference..even on black cars.. I've pulled mine (about 5 years ago) and still haven't repainted/filled the holes... but they are never going back on..

I actually prefer the body side mouldings. When the first 928S came out, the car was distiguished from the base 928 by the front and rear spoilers as well as the mouldings. As a teenager then, the super coolness of the 928S left me jawdropped. My liking of the moulding simply stuck such that the mouldings equate to a "super 928." I think the mouldings give the car additional dimensions and make the car sleeker and more sculpted.

I don't hate the strips and yes they do help against door dings... but they (as others have described) straighten/lengthen the look of the 928..... which in my opinion takes away from the original rounded shape of the 928. Even the lower rocker panels covers on the later S4 take away from the rounded shape...
Take a look at the original OB body.... best design ever
... The addition of the side moldings just interrupts the smooth shapely curve of the body..

The idea of having these ridiculous strips for the low-average possibility of them being at the PERFECT HEIGHT to protect the door from 1000s of different door height combinations of the other cars is really just useless. The car is lower than most now. The strips are too low to do anything. Park farther away.
