Alright....she's running.....not happy with the current state...
The good....no more missing when I rev...smooth instant throttle response...unbelievable how much more power it feels like it has....I believe I got his fuel distributor licked! I need to tweak it still...
The bad.....smoking badly.....I had no smoke before this....I wonder if flooding the motor so much did some damage? I let it idle for an hour, and it would clear up a lot, but whenever I rev it up....I exterminate every mosquito in a 3 mile radius. I am hoping the engine is just full of oil, and it's burning out.....I hope....the smoke is blu-ish white...
Second, when I rev the motor, and release the throttle, sometimes the rpms drop slowly, and she sticks about 1500 rpms....I then play with the mixture/idle, and get her back down....this is minimal to the smoke....
Oh, and Guy....I had a very loud backfire right after I started her up and got it running...(which took about 4 hours)....after that, she ran pretty good....
So...running pretty good...needs more adjustment, smokes badly...

Sounds like fuel could still be stuck in the exhaust, most likely the rear muffler because when your engine got flooded you basically made 2 stroke fuel.
It could also be running a tad rich so you should try setting the correct control pressure and WUR pressure correctly with a set of gauges.

Yea, oil saturation is what I am hoping for....should burn out in a few cycles....I hope.....
I hope to have my hands on a CIS test gauge set soon,,,looks like I am at that point....

Burning Brakes
To get it close lower the idle to about 600rpm with the screw on the throttle body right behind the WUR.. Then move the mixture screw at the FD and see if the rpm changes keep moving the screw in the direction that makes the engine idle faster and keep lowering the idle as you go. Once the idle starts going down again, go back about 1/8 turn that should be close enough to drive ok.... it has to be done with the engine warm after running about 15 mins or you are just adapting to the WUR...

I know this is not 928 related, but I had to rush home from SITM on Sunday to support my family, as our little pet was rushed back to the ER. She was a member of our family to the core, and gave us all the affection and love she had. Lilly lost her battle with GME and kidney infection on Monday, June 9. She was my constant companion when I was home, and we will miss her terribly. I saw her when I left Friday, and she was well, but crashed over the weekend. I did not get to see her alive again.

Sorry for the above post, but Lilly was extremely important to me, and I have spent upwards of $7000 to try to keep her alive....I tried....
On a good note, I played with #30 and got her running better, and the smoking is subsiding....looks like I might be ok after all.....next up some fuel tuning, install driver CV axle (which my buddy has not assembled yet! Grrrr!), then drop her on the ground and see if she will go!
I'll keep you all posted!

Ron- I'm really sorry to hear about your dog Lilly -that's tough. I have 2 dogs, that mean the world to me, they are family members, and it would be hard to loose any of them. My condolences to you and the family.

Sorry for your loss little buddy. I know she was a good companion to you as you were going through the employment transition and I guess for years prior.

Thanks for the comments guys. Grieving sucks. I miss my little pal, as I sit here typing this, it's not the same without her sitting on my lap....
I just try to think of all the joy she gave us, and hope we gave her just as much.

This is a quote from Cesar Milan:
"When your dog does finally pass,he has probably lived a fuller live than you have. Your dog has savored every moment on this earth. He is leaving it with no unfinished business, no regrets."
It might give some comfort.
I've had to deal, as many others, with the loss of a dog and I'll have to go through at again (at least 3 times). I'll never forget the first and will never forget any of them.
