Thanks for finding that! A little surprised that the lower charge air temps didn't contribute to a documented power gain for Tony, especially since he seemed to notice a seat-of-the-pants difference. But I still think that having that system in place increases the longevity and efficiency of a boost system, as well as provides welcome relief and protection for those stuck with 91 RON who want to run boost, and perhaps are having tuning issues (or can't be bothered to fine tune... ).

If Tony would have been able to back some fuel out with the shark tuner to compensate for the additional water/meth "fuel" I think he would have indeed picked up some HP.....and he probably could have bumped up the timing a little too.

It did..and did so very quickly. However my injection point was prior to the supercharger inlet and that drop in temp was never realized through the reminder of the intake track...for what ever reason, Im not sure. Its well beyond my scope of "thermodynamical knowledge" where, if it glows its hot. As Ive mentioned, getting water injection installed on a TS set up is much harder to do....there just isnt enough space at the exit of the supercharger prior to the I/C or after the I/C prior to the 150 deg turn the air has to make to travel back up toward the intake port. Running the plumbing in there would be a beyatch also.

I wouldnt tune a system that is dependent on water injection...pumps fail and more so injectors get clogged. If your running full timing when this happens you will have issues.

As said, this was all pre sharktuner era...the BoostCooler (SnowPerformance) and MAF controller now sit in a box in the attic. I still have all the T-couple wired up though. It was fun tinkering with the idea tat the time.

If you guys don't want my input, just say so...and I'll be gone.

I'm running stock MAF's, "to the absolute wall" at 380rwhp.

I also know that style stock clutch, with a bigger diaphram, will not properly hold down 380rwhp...they will slip.

And a stone stock automatic will last about 2 weeks.

They simply did not design these parts for 450chp. And when the pieces have a zillion miles on them, they will "hold" even less.

Whatever. I'm out of this discussion.

I really do like your kit. Very straightforward and well done! Nice job!

Have fun!
I dont think im at any wall at 375rwhp, its all working well and probalby will support 400rwhp no problem. If the maf is maxed out as far as signal, there must be a way that the system works as the RPM increases . I think anderson and Fan had stock ECUs and MAFs and ran up to 510hp. plus, the clutch is working perfectly at 380ish rear wheel hp, and ive been racing it for over 5 years now, over 50 race days on the stroker engine. day one it slipped, we changed out the more pressure , pressure plate and its been perfect.
so, you might want to adjust your limits for the stock stuff, for advice.

So you are saying that I'm wrong about what stock pieces will do, when your modified clutch pressure plate wasn't strong enough and you had to swap it out for one with even a stiffer spring with 380rwhp????

We're both communicating in English, right? You aren't translating this to German or French and there isn't something lost in what I am saying, right?

This is not my first roundup. Been here a few times before....

1st example:

Rob Edwards car makes 380rwhp....real numbers. We ran a multiple disc clutch in it with stock discs and modified pressure plate. Worked well, you could almost "sense" that it was slipping, sometimes, but certainly not bad enough to say...."Wow, that slips."

We installed one of my new carbon carbon clutches....then we knew how much the other clutch really slipped. The car acts like we added 75-100 horsepower.

Huge, huge difference in performance, when you get rid of even a "little slip".

2nd example:

When Joseph's track car went over 400rwhp, he had a dual disc clutch with stock discs and heavy duty pressure plate. He ripped (literally ripped) the lining off of 3 sets of clutch discs, in one day, at Fontana.

That's the limit of the clutch material's ability to resist ripping itself off of the rivets!

3rd example:

Ed Standke put one of my carbon carbon clutches in his supercharged track car. Ask him about how much slip he had...without knowing he had slip.

Greg,
I love reading your posts. I learn something from almost every post. And then from time to time, there are those little nuggets like the one above that bring a smile to my face and often as not, a laugh out loud.

Sorry. I grew up with a group of friends that were brutally sarcastic. It was the "age of sarcasm". Cuban Missile Crisis/SAC/Kennedy Assasination/Vietnam War/Nixon/CSNY/CCR. Hard to grow up then, and not be sarcastic, now that I look back on it. You didn't really know if you were going to make it to school on your Stingray, or get nuked along the way. Sarcasm comes out of me, like breathing. I can't stop it. It's not meant to be mean, it's supposed to be funny.

Like all comedy, some people laugh and some people get pissed.

I've never seen Kibort get pissed about anything. He's a great guy! Tough to get him to accept anyone else's point of view, but a great guy!

C3 gets pissed if I say there is oxygen in the air.

The supercharger guys make 6 trillion rwhp and then get all "pissy" when you suggest a simple speed contest against a 380 rwhp stroker engine.....just as a "simple test" of power.

Not hard to understand, when you consider that it takes more that 900 rwhp to go over 205 mph.

What can one do?

Nothing to be sorry for...as far as I'm concerned.

As I said, I learn something from your posts constantly. Thanks for sharing any of your knowledge of these cars with the rest of us.

I saw this today while fueling up and thought of you guys. I guess being next door neighbors with Venezuela has it's benefits.

$5.15 a liter? That's roughly $20 a gallon. So if the benefits of being near Venezuela include being ***-raped, then, yes, it does have benefits!

Jeez man, do you think a next door neighbor to Venezuela, who sell's their petrol in Liters is going to charge US Dollars for it? Thats TT dollars. $6.40 TT = $1 US. So thats $3.39 US per gallon for zero ethanol 95 octane gasoline. It was the octane that got my attention, not the cost. But since you brought it up, it's not too bad of a price, especially considering the quality.

Greg,

Whether or not you are a fan, look up the Southpark episode "Sarcastaball". You WILL love it. It's freaking hilarious.

Is that North American Octane rating or the one used in Europe?
