Mark, all this information is in this thread, but here's an index:
Post #1.................'85/'86 4 speed Automatics with limited slip. Some with "shorter" gear ratios. Would "transform" an early 3 speed car and be significantly "quicker" than USA version transmisions. All have "higher" stall convertors, to allow engine to get into torque range quickly.
Post #46.................'85/'86 5 speed manual, with limited slips. Obviously will fit in anything earlier, with different torque tube and rear suspension carrier. Will also fit in everything later, if someone want to get rid of their PSD and run a "normal" limited slip. Have 2.20 ring and pinions, for higher top speed/less rpms on freeway.
Post #83................'87/'88 4 speed automatics, with limited slips. Will also fit in anything later, if someone wants a "regular limited slip" and wants to get rid of the PSD unit. Have 2.20 "tall" US ring and pinions. Good for people that like higher top speed.
All of the information is still current, with the exception that someone asked if there would be any problem with them sitting for 25 years.
I decided to change the two paper gaskets on the 5 speeds (the viton/rubber seals look brand new. (This allows me to check the ring and pinion, limited slip, and complete gearcluster.)
On the automatics, I'm changing the rear cover gaskets (gives me a chance to inspect the differential/ring and pinion). I'm "updating" the B2 piston to the lastest version, I'm replacing the K1 spring train (to reduce 2nd to 3rd "lag" time, and I'm removing the front pump to inspect the inside and check the front pump o-ring (both I have done this to appeared to have an o-ring/gasket/convertor seal that looked like I put it in yesterday.) I'm making sure the pump and the front convertor bushing are saturated with lubricant, so no one has any problems with starting these up "dry". I'm also "inverting" the transmissions, filling them up completely with transmission fluid and letting then sit like that for 24 hours, while I "rotate" them occasionally. This will ensure that everything is completely saturated with ATF and ensure that nothing is "dry" when first run.

I didnt want to read the 5 pages to find out the meat of the thread. i just saw a lot of pics of autos, and not a 5 speed.
Petty, you should buy the 85 for the race car!!!

well, you know the answer to this....... if the gears ratios are closer together it will, if not, it might just make it better out of the hole or at top speed.
sorry, i had to answer.i couldnt help myself!

OK, got some additional pictures of another version of transmission that I received.
These are 928 300 015 11 transmissions, or G28/11/12. For those of you that haven't memorized every part number, these are
'85/'86 5 speeds with limited slips. The first of the "Borg Warner" design syncro transmissions, these are very desirable transmissions due to the ease with which they shift.
These transmissions have been sitting in the same sealed boxes for over 25 years and are completely brand new.....down to the wiring loom and speedo magnet sensor. Keep in mind that several of the pieces to rebuild these transmissions are no longer available....like the large spring that preloads the gearshifter....an extremely important piece that is known for breakage. While I suspect that all of the gaskets and seals will be perfect, I'm going drain and reseal all of these transmissions, before shipping. This will allow me to personally inspect each transmission for any obvious defects, while also making sure that they can be bolted in, without any leaks.
I installed one of these transmissions in a track car, last Friday. This particular vehicle had a broken second gear set, which retails for over $2,000 and then needs to be shipped from Germany. Add in labor, bearings, gasket set, etc, and while this particular transmission could have been repair for about the same price as one of these new transmissions, the "rebuilt" would still have 100,000+ miles on all the other pieces. Gears fatique with use and have a life expectancy. All new parts makes way more sense.
There are a very limited quanitity of these 5 speeds. Price will vary, according to what you have for a core to send back. Base price with another rebuildable G28/11/12 will be $4250. Email or PM me with your individual core and its condition, for other transmissions.

I still have the holbert transmission with the stripped gears . wonder what it would take to rebuild?? LSD is still good though!

Mark..you don't need these....they are horsepower to torque conversion devices... no need for that... You'll have to keep your eyes peeled for the ever elusive torque to HP conversion devices.... I think I saw a thread on that somewhere here on Renny LOL

WOW, there it is! the 85s!!!!! well, its pricey, but certainly worth it concidering most would never blink at solving a broken transmission for 2500bucks. brand new would be cool!

A new 2nd gear set is just a bit over 2K. Add in labor, gasket set, minimal bearings, minimal syncros and presto...over 4K. And it still would have used, fatigued gears everywhere but 1st and 2nd (come as a set).
Makes a whole hell of a lot more sense to install a brand new one, for a few dollars more.
So much sense that there is only 1 of these left!

I know Greg needs no introductions but I would not hesitate to purchase from him again!! He is a stand up guy! If your on the fence about getting probably one of the last new 928 transmissions, better act fast!
