OK, got some additional pictures of another version of transmission that I received.

These are 928 300 015 11 transmissions, or G28/11/12. For those of you that haven't memorized every part number, these are
'85/'86 5 speeds with limited slips. The first of the "Borg Warner" design syncro transmissions, these are very desirable transmissions due to the ease with which they shift.

These transmissions have been sitting in the same sealed boxes for over 25 years and are completely brand new.....down to the wiring loom and speedo magnet sensor. Keep in mind that several of the pieces to rebuild these transmissions are no longer available....like the large spring that preloads the gearshifter....an extremely important piece that is known for breakage. While I suspect that all of the gaskets and seals will be perfect, I'm going drain and reseal all of these transmissions, before shipping. This will allow me to personally inspect each transmission for any obvious defects, while also making sure that they can be bolted in, without any leaks.

I installed one of these transmissions in a track car, last Friday. This particular vehicle had a broken second gear set, which retails for over $2,000 and then needs to be shipped from Germany. Add in labor, bearings, gasket set, etc, and while this particular transmission could have been repair for about the same price as one of these new transmissions, the "rebuilt" would still have 100,000+ miles on all the other pieces. Gears fatique with use and have a life expectancy. All new parts makes way more sense.

There are a very limited quanitity of these 5 speeds. Price will vary, according to what you have for a core to send back. Base price with another rebuildable G28/11/12 will be $4250. Email or PM me with your individual core and its condition, for other transmissions.

That and you probably wouldn't know if you were really in a gear, if your transmission didn't crunch whenever you shifted it?

True statement ! but it is "fun" double clutching on the down shift to second. I figure most people who hear it just assume I missed a shift

why does all this "un-obtanium" stuff come along when I am broke like usual..... :>(

In the immortal words of Mark Anderson "which part did you think was cheap, the racing part or the Porsche part"...................

Living in a miata budget with a 928 sucks....

A great thread! Treasure hunt.

This is as good as a barn find thread. And those last pics are awesome, I was going to ask for more close-up large shots just for posterity. (any chance of large pics from all angles of one out of the box, lifted by some young assistants) Very enjoyable to watch. The high water mark of 85/86, capture the air in the un-opened boxes and sell it. The smell of 928 and Porsche dominance.

Bloody Hell Greg!!! It's like Christmas in August. Well done. I have my suspicions where these may have come from, but I'll keep it to myself since you have chosen not to disclose your source. Regardless, don't forget to pull one of those late LSDs out and send it over to me for measurement. That is unless the drawing I sent you via email last week is already a late one. Your score just fast-tracked our little LSD projet.

Wow.

Which spring is NLA?

I have an 85 that has NO force-feedback in any direction, even while in gear, but it does go in gear. Finding 2-3 is even tough quickly.
