If the cams are a problem (being threshie cams) there are other options.
That said, with the problem Greg refers to has to do with a change in wiring between years (only 85/86-87+ that I've seen)

The car is an 86.5 with the original fuse/relay panel with 88 ECU's.

The plug Greg refers to IS on backwards. Put green to white, and white to green. Plug is behind fuse panel!

I would put money on this given what you just said.

Why isn't it done yet?!
Go swap the plug around (will require cutting a pin off one plug).

Am I looking for a single connector with a green & a white wire? I assume I have to tilt the fuse panel out & look behind it?

Thanks, Hammer

Me, too.

Especially since he is running the later brains.

I think one of the connectors snap apart and you can swap the wires without cutting.

News to me too. I just looked over the wiring diagrams and it's clear that, as Colin said, the wire colors were swapped between 86 and 87.

I expect you will hear VROOOM in a few minutes!

Good point on the connector Greg, some connectors are easier to disassemble than others.

I just spoke with Hammer on the phone, we went over the plug and what to do. He said he's at work now, but will correct it as soon as he gets home.

And yes the change happened between the EZF and EZK.

Ok! You guys should have bet that money! I switched that connector. Thanks to Colin & Greg the car did start but won't continue to run. It could be stale gas or just poor fuel table settings. I will be reinstalling the STII PEMs & see if it runs better. I had no spark with them installed before but I'll try them again & if they're ok I'll be able to hear that VROOM Bill predicted for me. But I owe it all to you guys, Colin & Greg! It's a real load off my mind. Thanks bigtime! I;ll keep you posted on my progress.

Regards, Hammer

Excellent news Hammer.

Please let us know how it progresses. I dont know enough about the speed density program to be able to help you get that part running on the car. though if it starts but wont continue to run, that indicates too lean of a fuel mixture.

He's using repackaged MAF electronics with stock LH and EZK.

It starts but won't stay running. Ok. I put fresh fuel in the tank thinking it was stale gas. Now it clearly fires up after one or two revolutions but it shuts off as soon as I release the key. If I keep it in the start position it keeps running. Any ideas?

Thanks, Hammer

Could be due to a weak mixture - check temp 2 sensor at pins 13 and 5 of the LH 35 way connector.
Should be in the range 2000 -3000 Ohms (2-3k ohms). If it measure short or open circuit then the LH defaults to normal engine temp fuelling which will be much too weak for a cold engine.
