After a bunch of contact cleaning including grounds. Car is now an easy start from the ignition key!

I am now moving on to removing all aftermarket wiring and trying to diagnose the rest of the electrical bugs. I want to get a nice baseline before I disassemble for restoration. I also am going to address the lack of brake pedal. I want the car running and driving prior to tear down that may sound odd but its my way.

Three weeks into it. 15 hours of work into it. Total running investment including the car $805.00. This is a fun project so far!!

Just had to give myself another hour or so with the 928 today. Bled the brakes. Was able to engage 1st and reverse move the car under its own power for the first time in 9 years!!

The lack of brake fluid when I started and the loud hissing sound when I applied the brakes tells me the master is likely leaking into the booster and the booster is shot. Job doesn't look too fun.

Moving the car for the first time was achievement enough for today, the booster will wait for another day.

I had an opportunity to pick up some parts today. Looks like a 928 blew up on my driveway I am still in need of a few small items but I am quickly assembling my spares for the restoration.

I have decided to un "S" my 81 when its restored. Someone did a convincing job with front and rear spoilers, ducts, wheels, cut front bumper etc. Even the horn pad was changed over.

Hey Guy, what parts do you need? I have a few spares. I owned a couple of 79s an 83, an 88 and now my 86.5. It is a disease that you will never shake if you let it sink in.

Welcome and I hope you will be an adict for many years to come as well as a member of this list.

Take it from me - work on the mechanicals and electricals before the cosmetics. I have a beautiful 928 that sits in the garage because I ran out of time and money for the moment (little one on the way.) But boy that paint shines!

Thanks! I will send you a message. Appreciate the support and welcome. I am really enjoying the heck out of this whole 928 experience! And to think I haven't logged a mile beyond the wheel of one yet

I couldn't agree more. The only reason I picked up the parts was that the opportunity presented itself. A friend gave me access to an 80 parts car and I really took advantage of it. Best part was the price but I am sworn to secrecy

That does look pretty fun, I have to admit. These cars are really pretty remarkable.

These cars are amazing.
So many go down-for-the-count because of some simple electrical problem.
Don't knock it TOO hard though. I got mine for $1000 less than he was asking because of a bad fuel computer relay.
