Hello, pretty certain its a sensor/wire on the abs.

New note, rear spoiler slightly lose. On closer inspection, only one bolt on left side, and all bolts are lose-but have no 'grip' inside spoiler itself, resistance has worn away over the years.
Have filled all gaps we can with a flexible clear sealant.
Guessing spoiler has been like this for years and hasn't come too lose.
Sealant should give it extra grip and security (we hope).
Any other suggestions?

An thinking actually to take off spoiler, take out old bolts, fill holes with epoxy resin and sink new bolts in, leave to dry overnight and reattach and seal with clear sealant.. That seems like a good idea... to me

The old studs are actually more like M6 pan-head screws - with a plastic spacer about 6-8mm thick just below the surface of the spoiler, and the head buried in the core beneath.

Have a poke around in the broken side with a pick and see if there's rust down there where water may have got in and rotted the head of the old stud - one of mine which broke had failed completely.

If its loose/rusty your best bet is to drill out the remains of the old stud and its head, clean thoroughly and replace with an M6 pan-head screw and a few plastic washers. I used black urethane to seal/cement it all in there and its held up well for a couple of years so far.

If the base is solid - then just drill a 5mm hole and tap an M6 thread into the old base.. screw in a replacement stud and cement in plastic washers. I've done that on one which still felt solid underneath and it too has held up well.

I also recommend making a jig (bit of wood with 2 6mm holes drilled in at the right spacing) to make sure the studs/tap end up pointing the right way.

Brilliant, thanks Hilton.
I, have reason to believe they have rusted/rotted.
Do you know how long the bolts are?
I have a load of m8 100mm bolts sat in Front if me-with nuts and washers, but they might be too long.
By pan head, do you mean round rather than hex?

I was already thinking what I could do for a jig-didn't Knorr that was what it was called though!
Thinking gorilla glue to hold new bolts, never used it but heard good things-do you think a good choice?

Pan head are round - but you can use regular hex-headed ones. I used pan-head so that the head stuck out around the edge of the plastic washers, to provide a lip that stops the whole lot being pulled out. You could make a similar lip with a big metal washer on a hex-head bolt.

By the way - the studs are M6 and the holes in the hatch are 6mm too - even if you make the hatch holes larger, I'm not sure there's enough space for M8 nuts on the other side.

The urethane stuff wasn't epoxy - I just checked the garage, it was a squeezy tube. It was a local brand, but like this:

http://www.carbonmods.co.uk/Products...e-sealant.aspx

Just use some wax-paper between the bit of wood and the spoiler, so when you clamp the bits in there to set you don't end up with a block of wood neatly glued to your spoiler

Welcome! Love the colour. Nice to see another RHD poster ... we're a bit outnumbered here.

It's best to have two cars ... then you always have one to drive when you're working on the other

Cheers Hilton :-) Yet again, it's chucking it down- so won't be doing anything any time soon, the sealant my OH put on last night seems to have done quite a good job, so will be ok until we can do a more proper job.

Hi Dave, we have a bloody great 3.5 ton tour bus for when our car is off duty- but we've had 944's for years, of course the shark is that much MORE, but we're pretty used to the ways of the old porsches. Worst case scenario, I have a bike!

Oh, you might know this- on the RHD cars, what is the filler underneath the brake fluid on the drivers side for?? Only have the LHD manual to go bu, and it's a little different.

Is it washer fluid?

Yes ... the tube from the funnel with cap goes through the front inner guard and the tank is located, with the pump at the bottom, behind the splash guard at the rear of the RF wheel well.
Here's a pic of it ... not really below, it's in front.
