Soon to be 928s4 owner
Hi,
Newbie here but hoping to be a shark owner this week. I have always loved the 928's and looking at all your cars in your signatures, you are definitely a lucky group! I'm looking at a 1987 S4 with 52k miles. The TB etc. were done 500 miles ago. It does have a small leak from a power steering hose and one of the CV boots needs to be replaced. I am mechanically able but I am not sure when I would have the time so I might have an indy do it. I'm going to call my guy tomorrow to see if he will do the hose & CV boot and how much it would run. Anyone have a ballpark on what those 2 items would be at an indy? I have read a ton of helpful info on here over the last couple of months and I am finally ready to pull the trigger. The car comes with Cup I wheels and the original wheels that it came with and an almost complete black interior kit (the tan thats in it is fine, I guess the kit would be for a color change only) also a car cover. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

The PS leak may be something as simple as a loose clamp on the reservoir supply line. But, if it’s the pressure line or return line, they can run ~$250 each plus labor. The boot kits on the other hand are cheap (~$20 each); but, the labor will take a while. If you haven’t already, recommend you look in the “new user” FAQ thread; especially the one about pre-purchase inspections (PPI). With luck, the car will check out and you’ll soon be a new owner. Good luck!

Did you have a full PPI done by a mechanic with 928 knowledge?
That's my first recommendation.
It will be the best $150 you ever spend on your 928.
Use the PPI results to negotiate a better price.

Make sure your get a thorough PPI completed by someone who knows about 928s. This can save you thousands of dollars in unidentified issues. It clearly has low miles for the MY which probably means it may have been sitting/storage for a period of time. Not great for these cars since they do like to be driven regularly. The PPI by a 928 knowledgeable indy will also provide you with a list of stuff that will need attention either immediately or over a period of time i.e. your project list.
Good luck with the purchase. These cars are truely rewarding and getting rarer and will always bring a big smile to your dial when driven appropriately.
Cheers
