I'm thinking one of the previous owners long ago used this car as their 'winter beater' if you will...
The battery box is basically shot, with the lining the only thing holding in the back end of the battery. As for the rest of the body, that one hole has been repaired before. the frame or body seems to intersect the shell at that point, trapping dirt and moisture there. Besides the two spots mentioned and around the quarter windows, the rest of the body is pretty good.

Really? No one?
I talked to 928 International. They told me they had one but it had a hole cut into it for a side marker. I asked for pictures and they said they would take some. Never heard from them again...

Well, since the chances of getting another euro fender are slim, and i finally have time to work on the car, I've made the decision to: Have a weld shop repair the cracks, holes, and other metallurgical damage to the car - finish the other body work by myself - And then proceed to have the rear bumper, and front and rear right quarter panels painted by a body shop.
Currently I have the quarter window removed, which was easier than I expected:

Found some small rust holes (well, enlarged by me):

And found that the little bracket that helps hold the interior trim in place was being held on a thread. Came off easy and this is what I saw:

So, the weld guy may have his work cut out for him :P Final prep is to remove front spoiler and front splash shield so he may weld a small crack up there as well, and to make sure the quarter panel is painted the 'right way' later on.

A Moderator can help - ask Hacker - a link to him is located at the bottom right of the main 928 forum page.

Well, this thing is a rust bucket...well a rust bucket in the world of 928s! The battery was literally held in only by the liner. The metal was completely gone! My U-boat almost got an anchor!
Well anyways, I got all of the immediate rust holes and whatnot repaired. The quality was...okay. But this is more of a temporary fix: if I decide I want to keep this car for a very long time, I may have the quarter panel and battery box replaced. Here's what was done:
Interior trim bracket welded back into place after rusting off

Pinholes in window groove repaired

Torn and rusted metal along rear mounting surface of bumper cover repaired

Rusted away rocker panel patched
![](https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7258/7539144454_6d17bc4277_z.jpg)
Rebuilt battery box

The small tear in the front fender was fixed, and the rear wheel well strengthened and tears repaired as well. The battery box will still need vent holes and such installed, but this is much better than what was there before! Will need sanding, primer, paint, sealer, and undercoat. Same goes for various rusty spots throughout the undercarriage... grinding on the welds to smooth and flatten will happen, but once that and the other rust is addressed, the tank is going to be reinstalled so I can drive it to a body shop to finish the body work and paint the quarter panel, bumper cover and front fender.
And for fun, the options code sticker!

As far as I know only the rear bottom is different where the bumper meets the panel, the rest is the same. On another note I know a old body style shell that the owner may cut the rear fenders out and sell them to you.

That's alright...I already have enough money invested in what has already been done, and I don't want to imagine the shipping expenses involved in getting them.
