Random LA help required
off to LA in April (6-11) could do with some help from anyone local;
anywhere good to hire a mustang convertible for couple of days and I need a good route to drive where its quiet and relaxed near the sea and somewhere you can pull over and park, poss walk on a decent beach. (big girlie question time so be gentle...)
anywhere worth visiting for some petrolhead fun and amusement, 928's or otherwise? anywhere in general thats worth a look while we're about.
anywhere around LA i can buy 928 bits?
cheers

Almost all the major car rental companies rent Mustang convertibles - Avis, Budget, Hertz do.
Not sure exactly where you are going to be in Los Angeles area - it's a BIG area. There are lots of spots off the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1), especially heading North out of Santa Monica.
Peterson Auto Museum would be one petrolhead place. Look it up. On the weekends there are some informal exotic car gatherings around LA. Someone from LA will pipe in with locations and times.
For 928 bits there's no place better than 928 International in Anaheim. You should have heard of them if you own a 928. http://www.928intl.com/

Yeah, just find your way to the I-10 freeway heading West, and it will dump you out onto PCH. Then just head north on PCH as far as you feel like driving, then head back...

Lots of extremely entertaining canyons to drive in off of PCH to get your petrol mojo going. Feel free to give me a call and we can find a nice spot to propose for you. None specifically come to mind, but a 30--45 jaunt up the coast will yield you many choices. 3onezero-sevennine5-four5eight5. Off the top of my head, El Matador beach might be a winner for you.

Not much changed since last week.

It wasn't clear to me, are you looking for a pop the question spot or some nice to walk beaches?
Beaches and beach access vary a bunch up and down the coast, and IMHO suck right around Los Angeles which has both rocky areas and large harbor operations surrounded by business etc. plus in some cases abysmal parking.
Most of the nice beaches are going to be potentially busy and a bit noisy for question asking and looking dreamy into each others eyes.
Michael knows more about Santa Monica and north beaches than I do, but my own preference is for the beaches south of Long Beach, Seal Beach, Huntington Beach. Huntington beach has nice pier, with a Dukes (I think) on the sand and a Ruby's at the end over the water (walk up only I recall).
Prime romantic, rent a cottage at http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=644 Crystal Cove and Newport to Laguna has a bunch of amazing places for dining etc.

guys thanks i'm reading all and googling images but mj928 isn't helping i appear to have become distracted again.
her fav car is a mustang conv, i like v8's so may as well give one a go, we drive around at home so as long as its not too busy with trafffic and hassle anything up to 2 hrs is fine. I'm liking the pch up the coast on google and the cottages look cool, may see if we can grab a night there.
We both like sandy beaches she lies on them, I go play in the sea for hrs forget run back and learn how long i've been gone...its great we both love it, bought her a new watch for her birthday, she still hasn't quite worked that one out yet....
struggling at the minute to work out where to stay overall, can't decide between somewhere down on the waterfront like Marina Del Ray, on Sunset strip or Beverley Hills.
thanks so far

Those are all places people stay that have business to do in the area, and not my choice.
Gad what memories, gave my wife general information cause she decided to handle a romantic weekend. The Marriot hotel in Newport beach has or had an insane Sunday brunch, which I mentioned, and how nice PCH is. She booked us at the Marina Del Rey Marriot, walking distance to the boats. Catch is its just a place where hundreds of people park their boats and LEAVE from, nothing decent in the area and many miles down PCH before you see any ocean.
LA in traffic stinks, as I told Brad don't plan to cross LA during the 2 to 3 hours of commuter traffic. Pick staying either north or south, and travel in that direction away from LA. Staying close to LA, IMHO yuck.
Crystal Cove cottages are very expensive, amazing, but crazy money, maybe less for a weeknight, feels like a million bucks though to wake up at the beach.
I'm trying not to meddle too much, but if I was doing it, it would be Monterey and not LA. They make movies about 17 mile drive its so beautiful. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/17-Mile_Drive . Big Sur, the redwoods, NorCal is where a convertible is so very nice.
SoCal I would start maybe working south from Hilton in Huntington Beach, hit the Sunday brunch at the Marriott Newport Beach, maybe something near Dana Point.
